SLR Magic MicroPrime Cine 18mm T2.8 Overview

By B&H Photo's

Choosing a smaller size over bulk and weight, the SLR Magic MicroPrime Cine 18mm Lens covers full-frame sensors and features a Sony E-mount. Suitable for 4K origination, each lens in the MicroPrime Cine series features similar size and weight with consistent lens gear positions for rapid lens changes and easier rebalancing when changing lenses on a gimbal.

The lens incorporates a 7-blade iris that provides a pleasing bokeh with natural-looking out-of-focus highlights. The odd number of iris blades also reduces the appearance of flare off the blades. The lens has an internal focus design so the front of the lens doesn't rotate when focusing, and it has an 85mm outer diameter for compatibility with a wide number of clip-on matte boxes.

Each lens in the MicroPrime Cine series features similar balance characteristics, minimizing recalibration when switching lenses while your camera is on a gimbal.
Internal focus mechanism minimizes breathing and prevents the front of the lens from rotating while pulling focus.
An 82mm front filter thread enables mounting filters directly to the lens without using a matte box.

What is the minimum focusing distance of this lens?
Asked by: Brian
SLR Magic does not list a minimum focusing distance for this lens. However they do list a Closest Focusing Distance of 0.66' / 0.2m for other models of 18mm lenses that they have. It should be in the same range with this model as well.

Could this cover the s35 sensor of the z cam s6 w/ MFT mount?
Asked by: TimeKeeper
No, it will not. Although this will mount on the MFT mount, it will only cover an MFT sensor. It would be suited for a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema 4K.

Can I use it on the Tilta matte box mb-T12?
Asked by: Luis
Yes you can use this lens with that matte box. That matte box offers 15mm rod support, you would just need a product like the IndiPro baseplate to use it. https://bhpho.to/2WzppUi
