Key Features
- Z-Mount Lens/FX Format
- Constant f/4 Maximum Aperture
- Four ED and Four Aspherical Elements
- Nano Crystal & Super Integrated Coatings
Spanning an impressive wide-angle range, the NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S is an ultra-wide zoom for Nikon's FX-format Z-series mirrorless system. The broad field of view is especially well-suited to landscape, architectural, and astrophotography applications, and the constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains a consistent exposure throughout the zoom range. In regard to the optical design, the lens features four extra-low dispersion elements and four aspherical elements, which reduce a variety of aberrations and distortion to produce imagery with high sharpness, clarity, and accurate color rendering. Both Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings are used, too, to suppress flare and ghosting for greater color fidelity and higher contrast.

How bad is the Barrel Distortion at each focal ...
How bad is the Barrel Distortion at each focal length? The lens looks quite big so I guess the Barrel Distortion may be acceptable to professional cityscape photographers. I have been thinking about ordering it. Thank you very much.
This lens has significant barrel distortion, but it is easily and (in some cases) automatically corrected with photo software like Photoshop.

Hi I have the Z6 Nikon camera, in general dose this lens do well with handheld photography?
This will really depend on the lighting situation. F4 is not the fastest Lens, but the Z6 has In body Stabilization, which will help a lot in low light situations. Also, you can bump the iso up pretty high with the Z6 and have acceptable image quality. The only thing you will lose not having a faster lens is a shallow depth of field, but this usually doesn't matter much in an ultra wide and typically you will want a larger depth of field for the photography people tend to use this type of lens for.

I currently use the NISI V6 filter system with this lens, and when using the CPL and an ND or two combined, there is no vignetting at 14mm. It's great not having to use a 150mm filter system. But the NISI sustem is not as simple to use as others such as the new Haida M10 system. But I don't know whether or not it will vignette with this lens at 14mm. Does anyone have a slide-in filter system other than NISI that works with this lens at 14mm? Thanks
Vignetting would be minimal on the Haida. It would depend how close you look and also if the background is lighter or darker. The Nisi V6 and Haida M10 are very similar though, they have differences in the locking mechanism which I believe is what you are referring to, but both are easy to use in my experience once you get used to it. I don't see that it would improve your ease of use much by going to the Haida M10.

Has anyone used this lens with the Z50 handheld. ...
Has anyone used this lens with the Z50 handheld. Area the photos OK even without image stabilization since the Z50 doesn't have in-camera stablization?
As with any non-stabilized system, you can still get sharp images, but your shutter speeds will have to be slightly faster when hand holding. That means wider apertures or higher ISO's. Bottom line is that it is definitely doable, but hand holding is always easier with stabilization, whether in-lens, body, or both.

How much does the extension of the lens change balance point for use on a stabilizer like a Ronin 2?
The Ronin 2 will be able to balance the Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S Lens at full extension or minimum extension with no difficulty whatsoever. It is advised to balance with the lens half-way
extended for best case.
