WIRAL Cable Cam System Overview

Achieve smooth, sweeping motion shots without a dolly or track with the WIRAL Lite Cable Camera Motion System. The transport system consists of a camera transport unit, a Quickreel rope system, a remote control, a removable battery with charger, two end-stop clips, and a ball mount with a 1/4"-20 mounting thread.

The Quickreel system comes with 164' of UHMWPE lightweight yellow cable that allows the camera unit to clip on and slide along the length of the cable. The system comes with two end-stop safety clips that ensure the camera unit doesn't slide off the rope. The unit can incline up to 30° when attaching a camera weighing up to 7 oz.

The Wiral Lite has two control options: wireless remote and wireless smartphone app. The included wireless remote provides controls for adjusting speed, start/stop, modes such as time-lapse, electronic end-stop settings, and battery life indication. The Wiral LITE app provides the same remote features as the remote control to control speed, start/stop, and time-lapse, and additional features such as ping-pong back and forth motion and automatic follow mode to follow your subject without the need to actively control the unit. It features a quick and easy touch interface to control all the settings, motion, and features on both Android and iOS. The app also provides tutorial videos to guide you through different Wiral Lite techniques.

The removable battery that powers the camera unit provides approximately three hours of battery life, and a battery charger is also included. The unit comes with a built-in 1/4"-20 thread as well as a ball mount head with a 1/4"-20 thread to mount your camera.

The Wiral was easy to use and setup. I attached a SCORP Mini with Canon R7 on the Wiral and the whole system worked flawlessly.

No drone, no problem

While I am a drone cinematographer, many times it's just not safe or logistically sensible to fly to get certain shots. Wiral solves that problem with the Wiral Lite! Absolutely amazing results with this guy - now a standard part in my camera kit!

Great tool for church

This cable camera rig does its job well. Set up was quick, and straightforward for both the cable and the device. Providing a unique shot, our church has this set up overlooking a section of our seating area (not over the top of anyone's head) and the stage. I have put a Canon 90D, and a Mevo on it and both performed equally well. There is only one improvement that I would suggest that effects the overall user experience. The battery must be removed to charge it, I would assume that under normal conditions that the battery is suitable for several uses; however, we have to charge after every use, this issue could be solved by adding a inline charging adapter that is positioned to give access without having to remove the battery. I will add, they did put a solid quick disconnect terminal that looks like it will hold up to normal use for a long time. This thing is fun to operate, and once fully set up, almost anyone could run it. I was happy with the remote and the options it gives. But the smooth operation of the actual camera rig was surprising, compensating for quick start/stop of the rig, variability in speed, and silent operation, all make this rig a welcome addition to our video production team.

Great tool to have.

The Wiral Lite Cable System is in a category of it's own, and neither drone nor gimbal can do what it's specifically capable of. I bought it for a very specific purpose....to help capture a moving wide shot of an opera performance. I used an Osmo Pocket camera (lightweight and with a useful gimbal of it's own) and put the Wiral in a slow-moving ping pong mode so that it traversed the entire stage. Along with the Osmo's ability to track objects or people, the system was giving me extraordinary shots. Unfortunately, the Wiral died on me after the first of three days of filming. I have tried to contact the company via their website, but get no response whatsoever. So, be forewarned. Great idea and relatively simple to use, but if it's dead, then game over.

Fun to use!

I've tried the Wiral with a few cameras with no problems but none were very heavy. I do not use the cable that comes with it. I use a 3/32 wire rope nylon coated to make it 1/8 and the Wiral doesn't seem to care.

Great addition to the camera bag

works great and lots of fun to use. Only negative so far is the battery. I used the Wiral for a few tries earlier this week and then put it away but when I went to use it yesterday the battery had zero power. The remote would not even register any power level and had to totally recharge. After last use I unplugged it from the system to see if that helps, time will tell. Other then that I think it will help me produce some exciting videos!!

This little machine looks like fun to play with but it should not be trusted , and it seems I made a good decision to try it out with my insta 360 R instead of a more expensive camera , because on the first try .... The rope broke and the machine fell to the ground into million pieces , Second app doesn't connect to the machine or it's remote no matter what , the Bluetooth can't pick it up. The battery and the way it's suppose to be charged is like praying for troubles to happen . Connect and disconnect and pull on wires ... why it can't be charged directly from the machine ? For a smart idea it has very dumb design . Pros ... non Cons ... a lot Save your money and don't do my mistake . And since I reside in Qatar sending this toy back to BH will cost 3 times it's original cost , so I just burned 290 dollars . And yea never trust YouTubers Thank you

What are the slowest and fastest speeds of travel of the camera support mechanism? Is it silent?
Asked by: David
The slowest speed is in timelapse mode, where you can move as slow as 21 ft/h, and the fastest speed is 31 ft/s in sport mode. Wiral LITE has three speed modes: Timelapse, Normal and Sport. You can see more details about them here: https://support.wiralcam.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018628072-Normal-Mode The sound from Wiral LITE is not noticeable on the camera mounted on the unit, but not at all disturbing for the surroundings like e.g. a drone would be.

Can this be made to shoot straight down with a smart phone?

Yes it can. You would just need a Smart Phone Mount that will allow you to point the camera straight down like the Square Jellyfish Jelly Grip Tripod Mount for Smartphones. https://bhpho.to/3ahpNxC

Does anyone else get a vibration which makes the footage very bad? using an osmo pocket the image is unusable. if I gently touch the unit while it's moving, it's a very noticeable vibration.
Asked by: Darren
I have used mine for MTB riding multiple times with the GoPro Hero 9 and no major vibrations. I have noticed that having the cable a few wiggles and there, but very useable footage. Maybe the camera is the issue. Try another cam to recreate the issue. Also, look into vibration isolators.

Can this rig be "programmed" to go from A to B, then return to A, then travel to B over & over again on its own?
Asked by: David
Yes. Simple set your end stops to where you want the camera to stop at and set the Wiral to ping pong mode by turning the knob to the desired speed and pressing the play button on the Wiral remote. It will stay in this mode until you press play again or the battery dies.

How long is the battery expected to last in a 'normal use' situation? Could it capture a three hour football game?
Asked by: Russell
The WIRAL Lite Cable Camera Motion System (B&H# WILITE) using a large Sony L-series compatible battery could potentially work for a long football game. If you will be using it a lot then you may want to change the battery at halftime to ensure it being able to achieve maximum speed throughout the game.

There is no wind rating for this product. However it is safe to say you would not want to use this system in windy settings.
