I bought this for live-streaming sports with a mac, used it less than five times, and then it decided to no longer power on.

Does not work with Win11

Just hooked this up to another Win11 laptop & using Game Capture; got 4 reboots in a row. This made the third Win11 laptop. I have searched the internet for hours looking for fixes and work arounds. I cannot find anything & elgato says there is no known issue with Win11. I used to like Elgato because their game capture software was excellent. Looks like Win11 did the software & hardware in; or at least for me.

Died in less than a year

I was eager to buy the product. For the time it lasted, it was great, but unfortunately, it wasn't too long. I used the product for a few months together with a Handycam for video calls, the quality was superior to a traditional webcam but after a few months the audio stopped working and later the video signal started to cut out unpredictably. So far I did not get any response from Elgato, it is a pity that being a premium brand product, with such a clear market, the product turns out like this.

Love these

Love these devices. I use them all the time for live streaming. VMix sees it right away, it's a small device with a lot of value, and it's easy to transport with you. I would recommend the use of the USB extender (they seem to come with them, now). The unit will partially cover any ports directly adjacent to the USB the Cam Link is plugged into. The extender will not, so you will still be able to use those ports. Also, it gives the device some strain relief, if the HDMI cord is pulling. I have seen many become bent this way.

Compact And Easy To Use!

I really like that it's compact as you don't want a huge capture card to stick out at the back of your PC. It's plug and play, super easy to use. Besides that is the footage without delay in OBS, this means that you don't have to put a delay on your mic or anything! Just add it like a webcam and you are good to go.

I got this to live stream with my canon r6 and it does great. There are other much cheaper options, but even though is much more money I trust it more than other options.

Tried other converters with my Canon Vixia H40 and none worked, this one does. Able to process 1080i video. However, my computer processor is too slow to process the data....

can this be used too turn my Panasonic GH5 into a webcam?
Asked by: gavriel
If your Panasonic can output its source through HDMI cable live, then it should work. For example, I'm using a Canon camcorder that outputs its signal through HDMI. This could be used to connect the camera to a TV so I can see in real time what the camera is recording. In my case, I'm using the camcorder as a webcam for my daughter. Once the camera is on, it's plugged into the Cam Link, and the PC recognizes it as a web cam. Depending on your camera, you can clean up your output so all you see is the video and not the battery level, focus/metering/etc.

If you’re asking if you can see all of your camera icons and settings that all depends on your camera. But if your camera can I’ll put those through HDMI then yes you can.

Does Premiere Pro recognize this video capture device?
Asked by: Jerry
I'm a bit confused by this question. Cam Link isn't a video camera, it's a device that turns a camera into something capable of streaming. So if you have a camera that shoots in a format that Premiere can read (i.e. most everything) than you're good. If you're asking, can you live record something directly into Premiere...I have no clue and honestly don't know why you'd want to do that if Premiere could.
