    Samsung 970 EVO Plus Reviews

1TB 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 Internal SSD is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good SSD for everyday use. I was upgrading from a SATA hard drive also I am using Intel Optane memory in my NVME slot. Since I needed more storage I decided to ditch the Optane and replace it with this drive. the old sata will be used as additional file storage. There is a couple of things you need to be aware of. It is better to use a third party cloning software. The Samsung software will not copy all the partitions on the source therefore if your manufacturer places recovery partitions etc. they wont get copied. I am upgrading a Dell and in the Bios storage is set up as Raid. Under this setup I was unable to install the Samsung driver. you dont need the driver for the drive to work it will use the the one that comes with windows. Also with this setup if you wont be able to use Samsung Magician. If you want the Samsung driver and Magician to work you have to change to AHCI in bios. Those were the only issues I encountered the drive itself is great very fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrading OMEN 880-160 Bought barebones OMEN then did my own upgrades, the 970 EVO + 1TB was one of the upgrades, boots in 6secs. and programs load fast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and Amazing I stumbled upon this drive while looking at a Japanese gaming site. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it. This is now the fastest drive I own, eclipsing that which is found in my MacBook Pro. You cant go wrong with this drive, from the form factor (as small as stick of gum). The blazing fast writes, 3300 for the 1TB ver. My fav purchase so far for 2019.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Boot time doubled With my old system and a 850 Evo as my boot disk, my boot time was 8-9 seconds. Now that's 32gb ram, 4790k CPU and gigabyte z97x Mobo. With a Asus Maximus hero xi, 9900k, 64gb trident ddr3000 and a 970 Evo plus....15-16 seconds. Have tried clean install and only drivers updates and still the same. Samsung magician states the drive is running at advertised speeds so not gonna hammer the issue but this being my first experience with m2 drives and I'm not that impressed. Maybe I'm missing something but temps are not a issue, stability not a issue, 970 drivers not a issue and OS integrity not a issue...nor bios settings. I would rate it a 3 star but it works and by no means is it slow but to double my boot time rates it at 3.5(4) stars. Would I recommend anybody buy a m2 drive over a standard SSD? Nope.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Samsung does not recognize my SSD as being legitimate. Reading the reviews before I purchased my 970 Evo told me that some of the SSDs were not being recognized as SSDs being legitimately sold in the US. It was true for me as well. What this ultimately meant for me was that I had to use a third party cloning software to get the full use of my SSD, and forgo any warranty as I was unable to register the drive with Samsung. I hope it lasts. On the plus side, it is as fast as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from my first m2 and it works at my expectation I have a 2015 or 2016 Alienware 15 r2. It came with hdd. I bought this one to make it start fast. It takes 1 second to start now and works totally fine with my laptop. The user benchmark says it is the 6th best m2 ssd. As it is my first m2, I did not compare it with our ssd. The price is good and it is new. I strongly suggest that to have the m2 screw come with it. I had a hard time to find the screw and it took a long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Drive...Pain to Install If your computer only has one slot for a NVME M.2 Drive and your system is on a SSD boot drive in this slot you will have some difficulty installing the Samsung 970 EVO Plus, (or any replacement). Without going through all the details of my failures before getting this installed...Ill tell you how I did it. You will need third party cloning software.  I used Acronis.  I cloned to a spare empty SATA Hardrive from the SSD C: drive. Shutdown computer and installed the Samsung 970 EVO Plus in place of the current SSD drive. Booted computer from the SATA Hardrive and using Acronis, cloned this drive to the Samsung EVO Plus. Shut down computer when cloning is finished and disconnected the SATA drive.  Reboot the computer and install the Samsung driver for the EVO Plus. Driver and Magician software is located at Look for EVO Plus drive and click on picture of it...Then click support, enter product info and look for downloads. We didnt have much on the old drive since it was only 256GB.  The double cloning took about 90 minutes. The drive is very fast.  Im sure you will be satisfied with it and it is less expensive for the 1TB than the 970 PRO.

Not a MAC user. But if the system will accept an NVME m.2 card sized at 2280. then it should but I would recommend that you go to the Apple Store and ask one of there tech's Its a great add on to my system. Through I am not sure if it is anything better then a standard SSD.
