FUJIFILM GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR Overview

Covering a flexible range of medium telephoto focal lengths, the FUJIFILM GF 100-200mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR is a versatile zoom, well-suited for a variety of subjects from portraiture to landscapes. Offering a 79-158mm equivalent focal length, this lens is also characterized by its constant f/5.6 maximum aperture to maintain consistent brightness throughout the zoom range. The optical design incorporates two Super ED elements and one aspherical element, which minimize both chromatic and spherical aberrations for improved clarity, color accuracy, and sharpness.

Balancing the optical attributes, this lens is also distinguished by its five stop-effective image stabilization system that minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld imagery. A linear autofocus motor is also used to deliver fast, near-silent focusing performance to benefit both photos and videos. Additionally, the lens also features a dust-, freeze-, and weather-resistant construction to suit working in trying environmental conditions.

Medium telephoto zoom lens offers a 79-158mm equivalent focal length to realize a narrow field of view to suit wildlife and portraiture applications.
Constant f/5.6 maximum aperture offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range.
Two Super ED elements greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range for greater clarity and color accuracy.
One aspherical element controls field curvature, distortion, and spherical aberrations in order to maintain a high degree of sharpness and accurate rendering.
A linear AF motor is used for quick, quiet focusing performance to suit both photo and video applications. Additionally, an updated mechanism also fixes the linear motor position when turning the camera off so the focus position remains the same.
A focus limiter switch lets you adjust the focusing range from 2' to infinity or from 16.4' to infinity for faster focusing performance when working with distant subjects.
Optical Image Stabilization system compensates for up to five stops of camera shake to help realize sharper imagery when shooting handheld.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.
Physical aperture ring allows for intuitive adjustment over exposure settings, and incorporates a C (Command) position to permit camera-based aperture setting.
Dust- and weather-sealed magnesium-alloy construction enables working in harsh climates and temperatures as low as 14°F.
Compatible with optional GF 1.4X TC WR Teleconverter, which extends the focal length to 140-280mm for even greater reach.

Love this lens. Very useful focal length range. Very sharp superb optics and construction like all of the Fujifilm GF lenses. Also works great with the GF1.4 TC teleconverter.

Solid build, super sharp, lovely bokeh

Sure it's big and heavy, but compared to what? A 35mm 70-200 2.8 is bigger and heavier. By medium format standards very fast to focus and sharp across it range. Bokeh at 100mm is surprisingly nice and only improves as you zoom in. Easily the best zoom I own.

Great lens.

Great lens for what I do.

Probably the least sharp of the GF line

I think if you are used to pixel peeping with other GF lenses or go for heavy crops, you will probably be disappointed if your point of reference happens to be other GF lenses. It's not a bad lens, but reminds me of the big zoom Sigma lenses from a sharpness standpoint. Definitely usable and portable, but don't have a heart-attack when its not up to snuff when compared to other GF lenses or high quality full-frame zooms like your top end 70-200 lenses.

Amazing quality, decent portrait lens, lightweight, large

I was hoping this would be a more versatile lens than the prime alternatives in the same zoom range and this has turned out to be the case. Even full body or headshot portraits have a good degree of subject separation and bokeh at the maximum aperture of f5.6. Possibly my favorite lens of the GF lineup alongside the 23mm.

A great alternative to the 70-200 f4 on full-frame

This is my newest lens for the GFX system, and I've only had it out a few times now, but I have been very impressed. The size and weight are great for a telephoto zoom on a medium format system. I actually really like the range, and if I can't get quite close enough, well that's where the 102 megapixels of the GFX 100s come in to play! I'm sure it would be excellent on the 50 models as well. In my limited experience with the lens I have found the photos I've taken to be very sharp with excellent colors and contrast. The build quality is also excellent and the OIS works very well. If I dropped this lens off a cliff, I would not hesitate to buy another.

For What It Is....

This lens represents an interesting and useful package of compromises. F/5.6 is not fast, but the tradeoff is a reasonably sized medium format lens that does not weigh a ton and is sharp. The focal length is very useful. It works for landscape shooting just fine. The price is reasonable for what you get in return.

Amazing glass for an amazing body

It's taken a little time for me to use this lens enough to feel comfortable writing a review on it because it's not a focal length range that I really need all that often in my shooting. But the few times I've used it now, I've been REALLY blown away by the quality and clarity! Recently we had a really clean night with a full moon and I took it out to see if I could capture anything all that usable and, WOW! I was REALLY blown away with what I got when I looked at the images in Lightroom! You can see details in the moon that I didn't even know was there and could NEVER see with the naked eye! No idea if this is a good astro lens or now, but it worked with the moon and now I want to take it out and try! Great lens!

F5.6 really? I thought it was a typo, at this price range it should've been at least an F4.0 or F2.8 for 2X zoom. Reminds me of a Canon FD 100-200 5.6 that was cheap but was dubbed "slow but sharp". I know this is more of a comment than a question. thanks!
