Covering a versatile and popular range of focal lengths, the Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/4 O.I.S. from Panasonic is an L-mount telephoto zoom featuring an f/4 constant maximum aperture. A sophisticated optical design is employed, which incorporates a series of aspherical, low dispersion, and high refractive index elements, to control a variety of aberrations, color fringing, and distortion for sharp, clear, well-corrected imagery throughout the zoom range. Complementing the optics is a unique double focus system, which utilizes both a linear motor and a stepping motor, to provide especially fast and precise focusing performance. Additionally, an Optical Image Stabilizer reduces the effects of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting and the lens sports a weather-sealed design for use in harsh conditions.
- L-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
- Aperture Range: f/4 to f/22

Panasonic Lumix S PRO 70-200mm f/4 Reviews
Great
even open (f4) pictures are sharp. A little heavy when attached to my S1H, Great price, great photos!
Love this lens.
The focus ring could be a little nicer, but the image quality is great! f4 is plenty.
Very sharp and great autofocus
I was going to go for the f2.8 version but I couldn’t justify the price of that lens at the moment so I ended up going for the f/4 instead. It’s lighter and basically $1,000 dollars cheaper. It’s very sharp at f/4 and the autofocus is very accurate and fast. If you need a longer focal length for the L-Mount system (I’m using the S1) I would highly recommend this lens. The build quality is excellent and I’m very happy I made this purchase.
Good fit with Leica CL; need better customer support
The L mount allows for use of this lens as a 100-300 equivalent on the APS-C Leica CL. It is bulkier than the Leica 55-135 (90-200 equiv) that it replaced in my kit, but pairs well with the small CL body. I tried the gargantuan Leica SL 90-280 (135-400 equiv) on the CL. Images, OIS and focal length were great with that lens, but ergonomics and price were not in line with a camera like the CL that is made to be more affordable (sort of) and more portable than the Leica SL. The OIS on this lens works well, making it much more useful to shoot wildlife than the Leica 55-135, which lacks the effective focal length and OIS of this lens. This lens does not extend when zoomed out; the manual focus works well; and having f4 throughout the zoom range is nice. AF is quick and smooth. IQ looks as good as the Leica vario that I am replacing with this lens. I think it is a good compromise on size and price if you want to do some outdoor photography with the Leica CL. It feels well made. Also, Panasonic offered a Leica-like 3 year warranty at the time that I made my purchase. I deducted one star because of the non-existent documentation of how to use this lens on the CL. I think I have figured out the OIS set up by trial and error, but there are no instructions included in the box, and neither Leica nor Panasonic customer service seemed to know for sure. Leica US tried to be helpful, but had to send my question about the OIS switch to Germany, because no information had been provided to them. The Panasonic rep, contacted by B&H, said to turn off the OIS on the lens. My tests indicate that the lens switch should be on for optimal OIS. The L mount alliance is a great idea, but using equipment across multiple platforms means that there needs to be a central repository for complete and accurate customer support.
Good Zoom
Purchased this zoom lens for my SL2. It is Leica approved and works smoothly, fast focus and internal zoom , which makes it more compact. Love this lens.
Good Image but missing extras
I like the lens, focus is quick and accurate. With that being said this lens does not have a focus limit switch like it's big brother. That is a problem when it hunts. As much as I like the focus clutch I'd rather they had put in the limit switch. That is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars.
