    Samsung Q90R Reviews

Q90 82" Class HDR 4K UHD Smart QLED TV is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Excellent TV... but.... I bought this expensive TV looking forward to play Xbox/PS4 on it. TV arrived today, everything was fine until I try to connect external devices (PS4/XBOX). It didn’t work...tried to reset, change cable, HDMI troubleshoot, change ports, devices... everything ! Devices and cables works in other Samsung’s TVs I have (2018 model). I decided to rest and turn off and now the TV doesn’t start !! After waiting 2 weeks (due preorder) I’m really mad because living room TV doesn’t work ! Any help are appreciated... and I really expect something quick (not taking longer than week or two). I believe the connect box are the issue (or cable).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Large and in charge! This bad boy is BIG and is the perfect fit for our TV wall. The picture is beautiful as they come. I love this TV. There are tons of options. The one option that we like is the ability to turn the TV into art. It is fun and we have fooled people. The best thing is one cable. No more trying to reach behind the TV to plug things in. Use One Connect box and the TV recognizes the device. You can set up the remote to control most everything. I can't get it to work with Channel Master DVR, but no big deal for me. This is a wonderful TV. Please be is HEAVY. You need a sturdy wall and two people for sure. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful TV Bought this last week and just received it yesterday. It has a magnificent picture. We are blown away. The setup was easy and we had everything up and going in no time. We wall mounted ours but didn't use the no gap mount as our studs are wider than the width of the mount. Love the One Connect box - makes it so easy to connect everything up without having to take the TV off the wall. Would definitely recommend the Q90 - equal to if not better than OLED and without the burn in issues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features! Quick question I really like the tv but you need a wall mount for the ambient mode to match wall. However, I cannot find one for this tv.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big improvement over 2018 Q9FN As a previously UNsatisfied owner of 2 Samsung Q9FN TVs, I'm happy to say this is the TV I've been looking for. While the frustrating local dimming issues aren't completely resolved in the Q90R (flickering of local dimming in dark scenes and 'reverse' vignetting of subtitles), the issues are far less frequent and much less noticeable. The dynamic range and viewing angle on this TV is incredible, and is the first QLED I've seen that looks near-OLED in quality. In addition, the upscaling does an excellent job at smoothing out the color banding you normally see with low quality (or streaming) content, which is very important when you look at TVs 65" and up. The only complain I have (besides the infamous local dimming issues) is that there is some light banding on the sides of the screen, similar to the light leakage you see on normal LCD TVs. However, this is only noticeable under certain lighting conditions. 4/5

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The one to beat! To sum the TV display quality in one word: "Wow". Its got high brightness and deep blacks at the same time. If you have ambient light where you have your TV or watch with lights on, dont even think of getting an OLED. Viewing angles are excellent and the anti-reflective coating does a bang-up job. Up-scaling of video content is really good as well. The speakers on the TV are decently good but as with any TV speakers, nothing to rave about. The TV itself is heavy and on the thicker side which is understandable given the amount of tech it has. Delivery guy complained that the TV is heavy for a Samsung. But with no weird shaped back and an option to use a no gap mount, it doesn't feel thick and rather feels perfect in place. I am waiting for a 2019 no gap mount. The ambient mode makes this TV almost invisible but I do prefer my Frame TV's art mode a touch more. This is understandable as the Frame TV serves a different purpose. The one connect box & cable adds to the aesthetics of the TV. A minor gripe here is if you already have a conduit for a HDMI cable, it may be tough to get the cable through the conduit. The one connect cable is delicate and cant be mishandled. The Tizen OS on this TV is quite snappy, and has almost all the streaming apps I normally use. It includes Amazon Prime, Netflix, Youtube and Roku apps. I no longer depend on Roku or Amazon Fire TV devices for my streaming needs. Youtube can be cast to this TV from the app, but not from Google Home. BTW, the external devices can also be controlled by the TV's remote control. My Logitech Harmony hit the curb now. One other feature I really liked is that the Antenna channels and streaming channels are seamlessly integrated. The SmartThings app quickly found the TV and set it up with my credentials, all my connected devices are available in the TV's SmartThings app. I get notifications on the TV when my Samsung washer/dryer is done and I can view my Arlo cameras on the TV. Currently the Google Home skill supports the TV's on and off function, but I am hoping this would improve over time to include more functions. Anything the remote can do, the SmartThings app can do which is pretty neat. Overall, despite a few minor grips, this TV is the one to beat. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Samsung QLED You Will Never Forget Your First When it comes to technology I have a certain afinity for my first. I can remember when I got my first Super Walkman when not in use and closed it was the size of a cassette case. I realize that I am dating myself with this example but I have the same feeling of wonder and excitement when I think about the Samsung 65Q90R QLED I received for this campaign. The 65Q90R is not my first 4K television it is replacing my 2016 Samsung UN60KS8000 which was my first foray into 4K. I must admit when it comes to smartphones and televisions I can sound like a bit of a Samsung enthusiast. My last four HD television sets were Samsung 8 Series TV's the changes and improvements which have been made to Samsung's line of TV's over this period of time is very impressive. One of the first things I was struck by visually after unboxing the QLED TV was the tiny bezels which are barely noticeable. The Q90R when compared to my KS8000 is quite a bit thicker and heavier. This of course in no small part is due to the direct full array 16X backlighting of this 65 inch QLED display, The display is capable of getting very bright and showing vivid true to life colors. The Setup When the TV was delivered to my home the size of the box it came in was huge allowing for a good amount of protection for this precious cargo. The box, the TV was in, showed a couple dings on the outside. The delivery person was incredibly thoughtful offering to stay so I could make sure that the TV had arrived in good working order. Setup was very easy I was able to use my Galaxy S10+ smartphone coupled with SmartThings made the setup process effortless, quick and painless. Attaching the TV's stand is a 2 person job the base of the stand alone weighing around 20 lbs. you have to attach a plastic panel with 4 screws to the back of the TV. You will need to place the base of the stand on a flat solid surface and then you and your helper need to lift the TV and align the plastic back plate you attached to the TV previously with the base then someone needs to screw the base to the backplate while the other holds the tv steady. This by far for me was the most difficult part of the TV's setup. Now the TV comes set to the standard video mode which for me was a bit too bright and the colors looked a bit too saturated for my taste. Changing the settings was quite simple all i did was press the home button on the remote scroll left to the settings icon and select it. The first option of the settings menu is picture I changed the picture mode to Movie which gave the display a much warmer and more true to life appearance in my opinion. Once I had changed the picture mode I went into the expert settings to make some additional changes to the back-light, Contrast, Sharpness, Digital Clean View, Auto Motion Plus Settings, Local Dimming, Contrast Enhancer and finally the Color Tone. Sound setting wise I have the TV send sound through the Audio Out/Optical port into My surround receiver. One thing I would recommend for all owners is to go into the support setting and check for software updates thus making your TV's software current especially this being such a new TV you want to install any new fixes. Features Quantum HDR 16X Now before this TV arrived I was happy with the picture my KS8000 provided If asked then I would honestly say that any newer TV would offer enough of an improvement for me to upgrade. My previous TV was edge lit and every so often I would notice some light leakage but all in all I was quite impressed with the picture my SUHD was providing me. Enter QLED after having this set for just over a week is that the QLED offers a significant improvement in picture quality compared to my 8 Series SUHD in every way from how bright the picture is to how vivid the colors are the display seems to offer a more realistic picture like you are looking out a window not watching TV. Quantum Processor 4K The majority of content that my wife and I view is 1080p and I must say that the TV's processor does a fantastic job of upscaling regular HD content the picture looks clear and natural not grainy or over sharpened. Rated 5 out of 5 by from See it to believe it I would like to preface this review by stating my relationship with technology. I am a software developer and I eat, sleep, and breathe computers, displays, phones etc.. The 65inch Q90 QLED TV is definitely a top of the line product. When the product arrived I was amazed at the build quality. It was apparent right out of the box that this was a well crafted device. The best part in my opinion about this TV is the full array dynamic lighting. What that means is that instead of being like OLED TV's where you get a pixel by pixel control of which pixel needs to be on and off. You instead get an array of light zones and each zone is only lit when needed for the content. What does this mean? It simply means the contrast of lines of say a moon in a black night sky will be almost identical to an OLED TV's accuracy in contrast. Now you might wonder why not just get an OLED? OLED TV's have downsides such as: possible burn in if you watch a channel with a logo in a specific spot often, dimmer in comparison to LCD TV's, and over time the diode's in the TV can wear out. QLED essentially gets the best of both worlds with the capabilities of OLED and the functionality of LCD TV's. This TV has a motion rate of 240 which is essentially a physical refresh rate of 120, but with software they upscale it to look like 240. The TV comes with a one connect box which is another huge win for the QLED line as if you like to wall mount like I do, but you also rent so you can't run wires through the wall. The one connect solves all my problems as its just one wire for all of the 4 hdmi ports, the power cable, the 3 usb ports, the ethernet port, and more. One of my other favorite parts about the TV is the user interface is amazingly simple and well thought out. Everything makes sense to navigate to and it is also very snappy. I personally just typically watch Netflix and Hulu on the TV which it has dedicated buttons for making swapping a breeze. I also play my Switch console on the TV and that is when I really started to notice the amazing contrast this TV can offer. TL;DR This TV has some outstanding features and the best possible picture without going OLED with zero drawbacks other than the TV is on the pricier side. However, you get what you pay for. I recommend this TV for someone who wants the best picture possible, yet doesn't like the risks that OLED comes with. This TV will serve you well for many years to come as we wait for the content delivery networks to step up to 4k. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
