question

Is this Flash compatible with a Nikon d40x? According to the manual it only supports the SB 400 600 or 800 Speedlight. Thanks
Asked by: Lisa B.
This flash will work with a D40. The Nikon manual isn’t going to tell you that a third-party flash is compatible, and the Sunpak DF3600U was probably released after the D40.

question

Does it support S1 and S2?
Asked by: paul
Yes, it has S1 and S2, and also works with the Nikon CLS system for bodies with that feature. I can’t speak to any special Canon off-camera modes. A very capable flash.

What sort of PC cord connector would be right for this flash? PC male? 1/8" phone plug? Using PC is preferable for my situation but I'm not sure what's typical for on-camera flash units.

Yes, it takes a pc sync cable.

Will this be ok on the D3500 hot shoe?mIt seems to weight as much as the D3500 body.
Asked by: Charles
It will work, and it will make your rig top-heavy, but it’s worth it if you want a proper speedlight for an affordable price. There are some very compact flashes out there, but with small size come small power and small features.

question

I see no reviews up as yet, can someone rate this and give a thumbs up or down, pros and cons, anyone?
Asked by: Howard
I am a Nikon user and I now own three of these. Good power, various modes (M, TTL, stroboscopic, HSS,) pivots and turns 360° for bounce flash, works with Nikon CLS remote flash system. As for cons, they are few and small. No plastic dome diffuser (buy a Sto-Fen from B&H,) no plastic foot stand, and wireless options are great but fall short of radio triggering.

question

will this flash work with Nikon's CLS?
Asked by: Anonymous
When I first bought this flash, I didn’t think so, but it does. Hit the left side “clear” button and the LCD screen will scroll through various remote modes. One of the icons will be letter n. That has it ready for Nikon CLS controls with cameras which support that, not the D3xxx or D5xxxx series.

question

Are there any omni-bounces that will fit this speedlight?
Asked by: David L.
Sto-Fen model OM-EZ. It is more of a snug friction fit than an easy snap-on like a Nikon, but that’s the one Sto-Fen recommends and it does fit. I bought mine here at B&H.
