How can you get the D8HU DVR to recognize an AXIS covert POE camera? I can view video from the camera through the camrera's IP address, on my laptop. I also see the camera listed on the DVR, but it will not recognize it so the the DVR will start recording the video

On the DVR you would need to go to camera settings, add camera manually, and enter all the setting for the axis camera (Ip address, user name and password) and finally makes sure onvif is selected.

Can you connect an AXIS covert POE camera to the D8HU DVR through a POE switch? I cant get the DVR to recognize it.

It is Onvif compatible so it should work. However depending on the onvif profiles it might not.
