Three aspherical elements, one Super HR (high refractive index) elements, and two HR elements are featured in the optical design to limit spherical aberrations for improved sharpness with reduced distortion. Additionally, two Super ED (extra-low dispersion) elements and two ED elements are also used to control chromatic aberrations and color fringing for greater clarity and color fidelity.
A ZERO (Zuiko Extra-Low Reflection Optical) coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) autofocus system benefits both photo and video applications due to its smooth, quiet, and fast performance.
Minimum focusing distance of 8.7" at the wide-angle end, and a 3.9" working distance, offers a 0.46x maximum magnification to suit working with close-up subjects.

Is there any lens creep with this lens? I ask because it does not appear to have a zoom lock. Thanks.
Asked by: Gregory
Mine always had to be retracted after carrying over my shoulder for a while. I've had it a couple of years now and it is getting worse.

I was very disappointed when I handled the lens (I actually tried 2 of them!). About 3/4 through the zoom rotation to fully extended the lenses stick and don't smoothly zoom through the full range. Anyone find that too?
Asked by: Robyn
Unfortunately this is a common finding with this lens, the higher quality 12-100 f/4 is much better and incredibly smooth throughout the whole zoom range.

The older 14-150mm walkaround lens was f/4-5.6. How limiting is the f/6.3 on this lens. What kinds of lower light would work with it before handheld blur occurs?
Asked by: Robyn
Depending on camera and if the camera has Image stabilization , I would not go lower then 1/30 on shutter speed
