Have they improved the processor and startup time over the original H4n? I couldn't stand waiting over 1 minute to power-up on my old model.
Asked by: Justin
The H4n Pro has improved mic preamps and a better rubberized body than the original H4n. The processor and startup times would still be the same as the original. For quicker start up times, it's recommended to use no larger than a 16GB SD card if possible.

Will a SDXC Card over 32GB work with the H4n Pro? Or does it really only support SDHC up to 32GB as listed in the specs on this site?
Asked by: Vijay
"SDXC" Cards are not compliant, we tried with them already. They have to be "SDHC" and no more than "32gb" sizes as well.

I want to use this both in our recording studio and out in the wild. I already have a great mic stand, what do I need to attach the H4N to that stand for in-studio use?
Asked by: Donald
You can use the Zoom MA-2. Otherwise, you can use a generic tripod to mic stand adapter.

Does anyone know how the audio (preamps) compares to the original “H4”-not the “n” version.

The H4 is an older model than the H4N. The preamps have been redesigned to sound clearer and better with more headroom.

What connectors do I need to use this device as ...

What connectors do I need to use this device as an audio input for the iPhone or iPod video functionality?
Asked by: NICKOLAY
To use the Zoom H4n Pro Portable Handy Recorder as an audio input device to send audio into the iPhone, you can use the Apple Lightning to USB 3.0 Type-A Camera Adapter (B&H # APMK0W2AMA) to enable connection from the USB output on the H4n Pro to the input on the iPhone. The H4n Pro should be set for Interface Mode and the female Lightning port will need to be connected to a power source to provide power for the phone in order to support the H4n Pro while recording. When using the H4n Pro in Interface Mode it will not record on the SD memory card. If you do need to record files on the memory card you will need to use the headphone output to connect to the iPhone. Since the output level from the headphone jack is line level and the phone needs a mic level signal, you will need to use a level matching cable such as the Kopul ACH4-25MON Line-to-Mic Attenuator Cable (B&H # KOACH425MON) combined with the Movo Photo IMA-2 Female 3.5mm TRS to Lightning Microphone Adapter Cable (B&H # MOIMA2) to facilitate connection to the phone's Lightning port.

Can I monitor audio while recording with the H4N? Also, can I record primary audio with and XLR mic and back up audio with the internal mic at the same time?
Asked by: Matthew
Yes to all, you can monitor your audio while recording thru headphone output on the H4N and you can us your external mics connected thru XLR's ports in the recorder and use internal H4N mics as well at the same time. and mix the two or mute vice versa.
