Comprising a flexible wide-angle range, the 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD from Tamron is a versatile zoom for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. Covering ultra-wide to wide focal lengths, this lens is particularly suitable for landscape, astrophotography, and architectural shooting. Its bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture complements this range and affords increased control over depth of field along with enhanced low-light performance. The optical design incorporates a both XLD and LD elements, which produce a highly corrected image with reduced chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy. Individual elements also feature Tamron's BBAR coating, which suppresses flare and ghosting for greater contrast when working in backlit and harsh lighting conditions. Additionally, adding to the versatility, an RXD stepping motor enables quick, near-silent autofocus performance to suit stills and video, along with full-time manual focus override and a minimum focusing distance of 7.5". Suiting this lens's use in inclement weather conditions, it also features a moisture-resistant construction along with a fluorine-coated front element to protect against fingerprints and smudging.

Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Reviews
Use for landscape, architectural and real estate, handheld and on gimbal. It's a great lens -- lightweight, fast focus and high quality images.
The perfect wide angle companion to the 35-150/2-2.8
Although the 35-150mm lens is my go-to lens, I sometimes need something wider. The 17-28mm is the answer to my wide-angle problem. Overall, it has a nice build and is lightweight. I would have liked an AF/MF switch on it, but I can make do as I have a button programmed to do that. The quality of the images is very nice and sharp, even wide open. If you want to keep your kit to a minimum, this lens and the 35-150mm will pretty much cover most of your photography needs.
Nice little zoom, that gets the job done
Nothing more to say beyond the headline.
I shot a Feature Doc on this lens
I paired this with my A7III last year while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, and this is by far one of my favorite lenses I've ever used. Imagine was consistently sharp, the range is fantastic for landscapes and interviews, and the lack of a dedicated autofocus/manual switch is such a minor inconvenience (set a custom button on your camera body in 2 minutes.) As someone who primarily shoots on primes, this was a stellar mid-tier and SO worth the cost. Well done, Tamron.
Lightweight and sharp!
Lightweight and sharp with very little distortion. Well made lens
i needed a wide len so checking the best len for my money, the T. 17-28MM hit the spot .I didn't send it back so for now its my wide len . around 20mm is the sweet spot for me .
This lens was purchased for use on a gimbal for wedding videography using a Sony a7iii. The 17-28mm zoom is very good for this purpose, but couple that with the fact the the tap of one function button can switch to APS-C mode, and you really have some great options. This lens replaced the Sony G 20mm f1.8 lens, which was a great lens, but too limited for its intended purpose.
Might Be Best Wide Zoom Lens
Awesome lens. Short focusing distance is great. Pairing Sony's great low light cameras with a lens like this that opens pretty wide helps a lot when working with very little light. You can probably find faster lenses but for good luck finding one at a price like this.
