DPA Microphones 4080 CORE Overview

The black DPA 4080 CORE is a miniature cardioid lavalier microphone designed for use with wireless systems for live events, journalism, and broadcast applications. The electret-condenser capsule delivers crisp, clear, and intelligible speech, while the rugged yet unobtrusive design is well suited to the demands of professional live stage work and presentations.

While small and visually unobtrusive, the 4080 uses DPA's CORE technology to deliver increased dynamic range and low self-noise for outstanding speech reproduction. Engineered for chest placement, the mic is pre-EQ'd with a 4 dB presence boost in the 4 to 6 kHz range to ensure clarity.

The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the talent, picking up less audio from the sides and helping to reduce unwanted background sounds. This pattern works best for forward-facing talent speaking in the direction of the mic, including broadcast personalities and presenters; it also helps to reduce feedback issues when monitors and PA systems are employed for sound reinforcement.

With an SPL rating of 134 dB, the 4080 is more than capable of handling most standard speakers and presenters. The microphone is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter. This version of the mic features a TA4F connector compatible with Shure wireless microphone transmitters.

A Reliable, Broadcast-Quality Lavalier
Miniature Mic with a Crisp, Clear Sound
The 4080 CORE features a small capsule for a low-profile visual appearance. The diaphragm offers a nuanced sound optimized for speech.
Presence EQ Boost for Chest Placement
The mic is pre-EQ'd with a 4 dB soft boost in the 4 to 6 kHz range for clarity. The low-cut filter also helps to minimize low-end rumbles and reduce unwanted proximity-effect bass frequencies.
Normal Headroom for Standard Speech
The 4080 CORE features a sensitive capsule designed for standard speech applications at levels up to 134 dB SPL before clipping.
Cardioid Pickup Pattern
The cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on the talent in front of the mic and provides a consistent frequency response, even for off-axis sounds at lower volume. The narrow pickup pattern helps reduce feedback problems from monitors and PA systems for clear, intelligible speech.
Windscreens and Clip Included
The DPA 4080 CORE includes a black foam windscreen, a white foam windscreen, and a lapel clip. The lapel clip offers a unique mounting design with a ball-shaped fixation spot, allowing the microphone to be easily turned in all directions. The clip fits both left- and right-side buttoned shirts.

Excellent quality. Using it in a Church and audio is excellent. It is a delicate equipment if handled improperly you may break it

Fat sound, very crisp speech

The sound is both fat and loud; really nice. This mic replaced the Sennheiser MKE2, which was quieter and thinner. Though the DPA 4080's sound is really full, the speech intelligibility is superb. The spoken word is distinct and clear. Used in a Baptist church with a Sennheiser lapel (EW 112p G4) microphone. If you want pro quality sound for your sermon, get this mic.

This (Lemo3 version) listing states that these mics come with a DPA DAD6003 microdot-to-Lemo adapter. However, the mics I received appear to be hardwired to Lemo3 connectors. Shouldn't these have removable adapters?
