Intel 9th gen i7 + RTX Graphics = real-time ray tracing
Found in: Gaming Laptops

Play your favorite PC games with the 15.6" Legion Y540 Gaming Laptop.

The 15.6" IPS anti-glare display features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 screen resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. The 144 Hz refresh rate helps reduce motion blurs and screen tearing. Visuals are handled by the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card with 6GB of GDDR6 VRAM.

The system is powered by a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7-9750H Six-Core processor. It also has 16GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM, a 1TB PCIe M.2 SSD, Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac), built-in stereo speakers from HARMAN that are Dolby Atmos certified, a 720p webcam, Bluetooth 4.1, USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI, and Mini DisplayPort. Windows 10 Home (64-bit) is the installed operating system.

Windows 10

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Laptop, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.

    Lenovo Y540 Reviews

15.6- Legion Y540 Gaming Laptop is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect gaming laptop for the price! The Lenovo Legion Y540 laptop is a great buy! I’ve had it for 2 weeks and have been very impressed with its power. I play a couple games on average of 2-3 hours each day with all settings on High/Very High. I’ve maintained high FPS with no slow down or hiccups. The keyboard has a nice feel and is durable. The white backlight makes it easy to type in the dark and you can dim it further if needed. The RTX 2060 paired with the i7-9750H are a beast together. I undervolted the CPU to -.130mv and managed to bring the temps down by 10 degrees. The fans are whisper quiet when doing light internet surfing and office work. When it’s time to game the fans speed up and really expel that hot air from the sides and back. The screen has a nice matte finish and displays very good color with very little bleed through on dark scenes. The 144Hz is awesome and the screen brightness of 300nits is just right. Now, the 230W power supply for the laptop is on the large side and weighs about a pound, but it’s a gaming laptop so that’s expected. The 1Tb PCIe is wicked fast and really cuts down on the loading times and boot up of windows. It does have a 2nd slot for an extra SSD and it comes with the needed cable for installation. The 16GB of ram is perfect and it’s good to know that I can increase it to 32GB in the future if needed. Overall, this laptop is well built and I’ve been enjoying my gaming sessions with it. I’m a Lenovo Legion fan now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great gaming/editing performance @ 144hz! I really went out on a limb to buy this without having any sort of reference when it came to reviews. This laptop has about 2 reviews on YouTube (both were not English and lacking in quality) but purchased it purely based on its specs. I'm not disappointed at all. Pros + Plethora of ports in the REAR of the laptop. This makes cable management on a desk super easy and gets those pesky cables away from my mouse hand. + Powerful CPU and GPU which handily delivers high FPS in even the most demanding and ill-optimized games. Running Rainbow 6 Siege at near 140 FPS and easily getting 60 on most AAA titles with 60 or higher. + Temperature stays really cool while under full load thanks to the incredible cooling system. + The IPS screen looks amazing and paired with 144hz refresh, it's a good combo. 1080p is good enough for me when it comes to my editing and gaming. + Included software is actually not all junk (except the McAfee Anti-Virus...that's just garbage) but I'm impressed with the Dolby Atmos software and being able to switch sound profiles on the fly. + The speakers are actually very high quality when listening to music and podcasts as well as playing games...however, gaming really requires a headset (I'll get to that in the cons). + The keyboard and chassis of the laptop are solid and very comfortable to type on. + 16GB of RAM included with room to expand. This is enough for me right now but I may be dropping some money to add an additional 16GB in the near future. + 1tb m.2 SSD...need I say more. Super fast PCI-E lane and room to add an additional 2.5 SSD in the future (I'm looking at a 2TB hybrid one myself). + The trackpad, albeit a bit small for my hands, navigates really well. +Overall quality and build of this laptop feels good. It doesn't feel like a cheap rig at all and it looks sleek to boot. I wanted a gaming PC that didn't LOOK like a gaming PC with all that RGB lighting and weird body styles. I wanted a slick professional looking PC that can run my games when I'm not working. Cons - The fans are quite loud. Under full load they reach a level that may disturb others in the room. It also makes you always need a pair of headphones when playing games. However, the fans do their job at keeping the laptop cool...so there's a trade off. - Battery life is not good while under any moderate load. Maybe an hour and a half if you are lucky but gaming really drains it. If you plan on gaming, be sure to have an outlet nearby. - The power brick is massive. This is just me being nitpicky, but it would be nice to have something slightly smaller for my backpack. All in all, this laptop is a great buy for the price. RTX 2060 is more than capable at 1080p 60FPS gaming and can even deliver the full 144FPS on many titles with graphics turned down to medium. Those who want to use this as a desktop replacement will be happy to know that the ports in the back of the laptop ensure your desk will stay decluttered.

Excellent. Heat—the nemesis of gaming performance—is no longer a concern, thanks to Legion Coldfront. Coldfront brings the latest features that a dual-channel thermal system can provide, including individual CPU and GPU cooling for cooler system temperatures, four thermal vents for improved airflow, dedicated heat syncs for cooler keyboard temperatures, and 70 individual fan blades per channel to reduce system noise.
