The mic utilizes a cardioid polar pattern to provide directional sound pickup in front of the capsule and strong rejection behavior behind it, yielding less background noise than most other polar responses. Rycote InVision Studio Kit with USM

The Rycote InVision Studio Kit with USM is a complete suspension and pop filter system which combines the InVision Studio Universal Shockmount and Universal Pop Filter in one convenient package—everything you need to capture professional radio-ready recordings free from pops and noise.

 

The shockmount supports any microphone with a diameter of 18 to 55 mm and weighing up to 1.65 lb. The patented vibration-resistant Lyre mount helps to reduce capsule and cable-borne noise and controlled tests at Rycote's factory show that it provides up to twice the isolation of traditional microphone suspension systems.

 

The pop filter is made with a custom mesh that attenuates frequencies up to 20 dB and is designed to reduce or eliminate pops caused by "b" and "p" plosives in vocal performances. Unlike other pop filters, this one causes no audible high-frequency loss, keeping the integrity and clarity of the original sound produced by your microphone.

Braided Premier Wrap

This braided wrap removes the friction that occurs when rubber or PVC rub together, so it's much easier to handle and wrap the cable. No more fighting with a rat's nest of cable spaghetti. The braided wrap also adds an element of strength and reliability, as it helps to protect the cable's PVC jacket from damage due to pinching or binding.

Star Quad Explained

A traditional balanced cable uses three cores of wire to carry audio signals—one shielded core for the positive leg, one shielded core for the negative leg, and a plain outer wrap that functions as the ground. The idea is this: a fully balanced system flips the phase of the signal, merges the positive and negative signals together, and effectively cancels out interference encountered along the cable's length by throwing it out of phase with the audio.

Star-quad construction takes that concept even further by using five cores instead of three. Two cores are provided each for the positive and negative legs, as well as a single ground. This helps to further shield the audio from RFI (radio frequency interference), ensuring an even better performance.

Double-Ruessen Shielding Explained

Most cable construction techniques use an outer wrap of wire to act as the ground. Some manufacturers braid this wire, while others simply wrap the wires in a highly uniform way to shield the interior wires from electromagnetic interference.

Double-Ruessen shielding goes further than more traditional techniques in two ways: First, the cable is wrapped with two separate shields. Secondly, the outer shield is wrapped in a contrary direction to the inner shield, creating a stronger and more complete barrier from EMI for the internal cores.

Gold-Plated Connectors

Precious metals aren't famous for their looks alone, some also have characteristics that are advantageous for signal transfer. These gold connectors provide such characteristics, as well as one other one: gold offers more resistance to corrosion than other precious metals do, making it well-suited for cable connectors.

The Auray Studio Isolation Filter makes capturing clean, dry vocals or instrument recordings sound more natural with less sonic coloration.

The RF-C20 fits on a medium- to heavy-duty microphone stand and uses a rugged aluminum mesh frame, four-layers of acoustic treatment, a vented metal back, plus a layer of acoustic composite fiber to absorb unwanted ambient noise and control acoustic reflections. In a nutshell, if your recording vocals, voiceovers, or podcasts in an untreated room with hard surfaces, the RF-C20 provides advanced microphone isolation for better-sounding results.

Microphone Isolation

Recording, broadcasting, or podcasting in rooms with little-to-no acoustic treatment can wash-out vocal or instrument audio recordings with echo reflections. The Auray Studio Isolation Filter minimizes reflections of unwanted noise bouncing off hard surfaces and entering your microphone. Usually, expensive acoustic foam is required on studio walls to absorb reflections and get a "dry" sound. With this reflection filter, you can achieve similar results in your own room or workspace.

Four-Layer Acoustic Treatment

Four layers of acoustic treatment help to isolate your vocal and instrument recordings. A thick layer of composite fiber surrounds your microphone and absorbs unwanted reflections, as well as additional noise coming in from the room. Two more layers of fabric and a perforated mesh layer help deaden and disperse sound waves, leaving your incoming audio clean and dry with little to no coloration.

Adjustable Microphone Position

Getting the right position with your microphone to capture vocals or instruments is a crucial step when recording audio. The RF-C20 allows you to adjust the microphone position horizontally and vertically. Slide the microphone closer to the filter for that dry sound or slide the microphone away from the filter to add more of the room ambience. You can also adjust the microphone height to fit the person or instrument you're recording. You can even alter the angle of the filter and microphone with a simple twist of a knob.

Mounting Options

The Auray Studio Isolation Filter can be mounted three ways. Use the clamps to attach the filter to medium- to heavy-duty boom and microphone stands. The clamps provide quick attachment and minimize setup time. An included 5/8- to 3/8" adapter allows you to seat the filter directly to the top of your mic stand. In addition, you can mount the isolation filter upside down to a mic boom arm for overhead recording.
