General Features

Plug-In Drive Accessibility

The USB 3.1 Gen 1 to 2.5" SATA III Adapter Cable connects an internal 2.5" SSD or HDD to your computer's USB Type-C port. If you're using a laptop computer, you can connect a SATA SSD or HDD without placing it in a bulky enclosure.

USB 3.1 Gen 1 Speeds

With USB 3.1 Gen 1 speeds, you can transfer data up to 5 Gb/s. Swap or back up movies, photos, music, and graphics in no time. This adapter will reduce time and interruptions to your workflow when you're copying or backing up large projects like video or audio sessions.

USB Type-C

If you're using a MacBook or Windows laptop, you already know the advantages of USB Type-C connectivity. The reversible plug fits into the port in either orientation and supports both data transfers and charging.

Bus-Powered Portability and Convenience

This adapter lets you travel without extra cables and power cords that clutter up your bag. It's also small enough to stash in your pocket. The 19" cable length gives you room to connect your drive but won't get in the way.

UASP and TRIM Support

UASP and TRIM support helps ensure you're getting the maximum performance through USB to and from your SSD and HDD drives. Less bandwidth bottlenecking and faster read and write speeds mean you can move your data quickly.

Needed a replacement for my Atomos card reader that failed. Works great, does the job.

It's painfully simple. And works every time. Just wrapped a feature shooting ProRes RAW and used this every day to offload from Ninja - never unmounted itself or any other negatives...

Be advised that this may not work with your 3.5 HDD

I purchased both this model (SATA III to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C) and the SATA III to USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A model. They seem to function identically, other than having the obvious port difference. Connecting this to a 2.5 Samsung 870 QVO drive, this cable works as expected. Performance of this drive reaches near the theoretically max of the protocol/cable. Connecting via 3.5 WD 8TB HDD, though, does not work. I would guess that there is too much of a power draw needed from the drive, but I have not dug deeply into this.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t! As long as the drive is recommended by Black Magic.
