An enhanced version of its predecessor, the AD200Pro TTL Pocket Flash Kit from Godox is built around a unique flash source with a standard speedlight head and a bare bulb head that give you the option of two distinctly different qualities of light. The kit comes with the two heads, lithium battery, charger, and carry case.

The speedlight head outputs the standard look of an on-camera flash that can be modified using an optional softbox, beauty dish, or umbrella. The bare bulb head features a removable flash tube and produces 360 degrees of soft, bright, nearly shadowless light. The head uses optional reflectors that focus the beam angle and give you directional control. The AD200Pro has impressive core features such as 200Ws of power adjustable in 9 steps from 1/256 to 1/1, recycling from 0.01 to 1.8 seconds, and flash durations as short as 1/15,380 sec. The flash runs on a removal, rechargeable lithium battery that will give you up to 500 full power flashes and thousands of lower power flashes.

The AD200Pro has 3 flash modes: Manual, TTL, and Multi (Stroboscopic). Manual outputs the user's choice of power, modeling light, first or second curtain sync, etc. Multi controls the stroboscopic rate up to 90 times (90 Hz). TTL takes advantage of the flash head's built-in X1 receiver. Optional X1 TTL transmitters are available for Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, and FUJIFILM cameras. They will also detect a separately purchased LED head. The 32-channel wireless system controls flash mode, first and second curtain sync, High-Speed Sync up to 1/8000 second, power level, modeling lamp, and ready beeper at distances up to 328'. Firmware updates are obtainable on the Godox website.

The second generation of this sleek and versatile strobe, the AD200Pro has a series of enhancements over its predecessor:
  • Dedicated Stable Color Temperature Mode, which improves color consistency to within +/- 100K throughout the entire power range
  • Expanded nine stop power range, from 1/256 to 1/1, with 1/10th-stop increments
  • Faster full-power recycle time of 1.8 sec
  • Inclusion of a USB Type-C port for updating the flash's firmware
  • Upgraded metal flash holder/umbrella mount for more secure and stable attachment to light stands
  • Enhanced control panel with recessed design, additional navigation buttons, and a revised On/Off switch
Built-In 2.4 GHz Wireless X System
Built-in wireless receiver: control triggering power level, alert beep with optional wireless transmitter. Compatible with Nikon, Canon, Sony, Olympus, and Fuji TTL.
Bare Bulb and Speedlight Flash Heads
Bare bulb and speedlight flash heads are included to vary your quality of light. Color temperature is a steady 5600K over the entire power range.

Godox AD200PRO Reviews

I Love this Strobe

I bought my first AD200 Pro 5 months ago. I was so impressed with it that I decided to buy a 2nd one to use in concert with my original. I've used this for my real estate interiors, portraits, and headshots. Now that I have 2, I can become more creative. These are really excellent lights and I highly recommend them.

Perfect flash unit

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent...

Start out with the right gear...I'm just getting into photography (again) and these units are great for studio and on-site shoots. The versatility is unmatched. Both Fresnel and Bare bulb heads with long lasting batteries/charger are included. I did match them up with the round head magnetic adapter, which gives me the flexibility of using my V1 accessories. My next purchase will probably be the Godox Witstro H200R Round Flash Head to complete the setup not to mention the Godox Dual Power Flash Bracket for AD200 (boosting the output to 400W). Light, portable and flexible at a very reasonable price.

Round head does not work

Of course this pocket flash is the best, but the round head that comes with it, does not fit or slide on properly. I have looked on reviews and found I am not the only one with a round head that does not work

Good Strobes

These strobes pack a great amount of power for the money. I have used them quite a bit and they can fill many modifiers that I could not with my former Nikon SB5000 flashes. They are compact so would be easy to travel with (though I have not done so yet). The down side is adapting them to light modifiers. I use Godox S-Type Speedlite Bracket for Bowens use Bowens mount. They are a bit of a snug fit to get into that adapter, and the part that attaches to the lightstand does not sit well. Other than that the lights perform well for me.

Perfect Kit for your initial strobe investment

This kit is really expandable. The combination gives you bare bulb/Fresnel lens, descent transmitter, stand and soft box. What more could you ask for? It's so transportable for a quick single strobe, on-location shoot. For cheaters like me, The TTL function is tremendous, letting me do a quick setup rather than fussing around with exposure. Having the readings on the trigger also helps when I go to fine tune the manual flash mode.

Perfect for my needs

Light and compact so it's easy to transport and set up on site. I do real estate photography, sometimes 4-6 houses a day, so ease of set up and use is priority one. Flash is strong enough to almost overpower most rooms if you are not careful. I use it with the XproN controller and the ML-CD15 diffuser and it is a joy to use. I did receive it with a faulty battery. I called B&H and they didn't question anything. To speed thing up they just overnighted me a new battery (free) so I was running the next day instead of going through the return process. Service like this is why I am a B&H customer. Oh, and the battery will last sometimes 2 days without needing a charge.

I just purchased my second AD200 pro!

I love this flash, and I just purchased a second so that I could tie them together on the bowens mount accessory that was created for that purpose. I used one on its own recently with a diffused umbrella for an editorial shoot in broad daylight and it worked great!

I'm about to add a 2nd AD200. Is it, for any reason, "better" to sell my original and buy 2 PRO's or totally fine to use an older one with the newer PRO version? Thanks.
Asked by: Cory
The new pro units have better color consistency across the power range. The new units recycle faster, 1.8 seconds vs 2.1 for the older model. The new unit adjusts in 1/10 stop increments vs 1/3 stop for the original. So it depends on your shooting situation and how demanding you are when it comes to image quality. If you rarely shoot fast the recycle time is irrelevant. The other 2 improvements though, especially the color consistency, could be enough to make you decide to get a matching set.

The charger will handle 50Hz 200V and 60Hz 110V. The cord is made for the North American market, and requires an adapter to fit a different power outlet.

Is the built-in clamp for speed ring (which is now metal in the upgraded model instead of plastic) the same as the one used by Quantum in their Q-Flash? (The neck of the aluminum speed ring with two slots appears to be the same.)
Asked by: John
I'm not sure what you mean by clamp for "speed ring" however if you are referring to the reflector socket on the AD200 it will accept a Quantum Q Flash reflector with no issues.
