Godox V1 Overview

Offering a powerful 76Ws output along with a distinct design, the Godox V1 Flash is an advanced light source with features that clearly reflect the current state of the industry. Compatible with FUJIFILM TTL, this flexible on-camera light is distinguished by its round head, which provides soft, smooth light with gradual fall off that augments the flattering output. The head rotates 330 degrees, tilts -7 to 120°, and has a magnetic surface for lightning-fast attachment of Godox's accessory light modifiers.

The V1 is powered by a removable 2600mAh lithium-ion battery that will give you up to 480 full-power flashes on a charge, so you don't miss any of the action. Speaking of speed, the V1 recycles to full power in just 1.5 seconds, fast enough to keep up with your subject. It also supports High Speed Sync up to 1/8000 sec, for managing bright backgrounds and shooting with wide apertures, and the V1 supports front and rear-curtain sync.

The V1 has an optical slave but it's also got a built-in 2.4 GHz receiver, which accepts wireless signals from Godox X System transmitters. In fact, you can control up to four wireless groups in a master/slave configuration whereby settings made on the V1 are duplicated on the slave flashes. Other convenience features include an AF assist lamp, a 3200K LED modeling lamp, and a 2.5mm port for cabled triggering.

Godox V1 Reviews

Nice flash and accessories, not so great containers

This flash works great with my Canon R6 as my first flash and the accessory kit is fun to experiment with in different settings. My only issue was that the accessory kit bag was defective with a broken zipper, so I'll have to figure out another way to use the accessories. Not a huge deal but definitely a bummer.

Better than the V860III

I initially purchased the Godox V860III because it was a little cheaper and I was not crazy about the round head as I thought it would be too big. I also wanted to be able to trigger my AD200 with the flash on the hot shoe. The V860III that I received was defective; I returned it for an exchange however, they were out of stock. B&H gave me a good discount on the V1 so I went with it for a replacement. After using it, I really like the V1. It is not that much bigger than a standard speedlight. With the exception of the wheel on the back, the build quality is very good, much better than I expected. My only (minor) complaint would be that the wheel on the back feels a little on the cheap side. It works fine but just does not have that quality feel to it like the rest of the flash. I wish they had made it a little more substantial. Overall it is very good shoe mount camera flash that I can also triggering my AD200 with. It also triggers my other speedlights with the Godox X1R-C triggers. I purchased the magnetized accessory kit, which simply pop onto the flash, a nice feature. Overall, I am satisfied with the V1 and am glad I ended up with it instead of the V860II.

Well built and great features

I wanted to start building a wireless flash system, but only had Canon EX flash. Made sense to go with the Godox system after numerous glowing reviews and YouTube videos. So far, I have been very happy with the ease of use, compatibility and large feature set. I have always been an OEM guy, but for flashes, I think Godox is the one to beat. The lower price is icing on the cake.

I had been looking for a new flash for my Nikon D500, and was recommended the Godox brand by photographer friends. I couldn't be happier. From the initial moment using it, it's been perfect for my portraiture and event needs.

Do not buy for SONY. Head snapped off 2nd shoot.

Manufacturers tell you to purchase a new head for $20 from 3rd party. My Canon friends do not have the same problem. Flash is actually pretty nice and of great quality besides the snapping off problemo. Had a good refresh speed. I had 2 but they just kept breaking before I could replace them fast enough. Upgraded to profoto A10 and the same thing happened (after 6months). I wanted to like to godox. I did not want to buy the $1000 profoto but it seems the Sony a7 series hotshoe has a weak point and causes the flash to break. I had 2 fellow photographers who shot canon who did not have this problem. Overall: 2 stars. Negative: Neck snaps off for Sony hotshoe Company doesn't want to warrant or send u replacement parts Positive Flash operates like it is suppose to Great recycle speed Inexpensive Note: I would recommend to canon owner but not Sony

A must have for off camera flash

This combination is fantastic. When using off camera flash and with one or multiple Godox flash units each unit and its power can be controlled at the camera with the trigger

Can you disable the light and just use it as a master for an off camera light? In other words, no on camera flash.
Asked by: John
it 100% is possible, I do it all the time. In Master mode, you can control three off camera groups independently of the Master flash itself, including setting the on-camera master not to fire at all.
