Stretch your storage with the ThunderBay 4 Mini Four-Bay Thunderbolt 3 RAID 0 Storage Enclosure from OWC / Other World Computing. Compatible with Windows 10 and later, as well as MAC OS X 10.13 and later, the ThunderBay 4 mini allows independent volumes to be booted with macOS. Housed in black aluminum, the array features a locking front panel offering access to the individual bays, while the back panel includes a Kensington Security Slot. Air cooled, this array uses a single 60mm fan and is designed for operating temperatures between 41-95°F. Measuring just 7.5" long, the small form factor of the ThunderBay 4 mini is designed to fit desktops, racks, and DIT carts.

Thunderbolt 3
Thunderbolt 3 is a hardware interface that utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector. Doubling the speed of its predecessor, Thunderbolt 3 features a maximum throughput of 40 Gb/s when used with compatible devices. The connector also transmits data via USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gb/s, and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2 allows you to connect up to two 4K displays simultaneously.
Multiple RAID Levels
The ThunderBay 4 mini ships pre-configured in RAID 0 for maximum storage space and increased transfer speed. However, it also supports RAID 1 for mirroring data and increased redundancy, allowing data to survive a drive failure.
Multi-Drive Capable
The two Thunderbolt 3 ports allow you to connect up to five additional arrays for increased storage capacity.
Performance Quality Check
Each ThunderBay 4 mini receives multiple hours of burn-in by OWC, intended to ensure each unit is performing to the manufacturer's standards.

The description only advertises Raid 0 and Raid 1. I'm assuming you can also have Raid 5, and other configurations, as long as you supply the correct amount of drives for each Raid??
Asked by: Joseph
The software that comes with the drive only allows RAID 0 and 1. For RAID 5, the software would have to be upgraded. This software upgrade is sold directly by OWC on their site. You would be upgrading from SoftRAID Lite XT to the full version of SoftRAID. https://software.owcdigital.com/softraid-upgrades/

Can I use this for regular drives or does it need to be used as Raid?
Asked by: Samuel
Per OWC's website for this particular model, drives (SSDs) can be used separately or as some refer to as JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks). Per OWC's enclosure description/details: "Use mixed drives independently or combine drives as a RAID..."
