All of these adjustments can be made locally on the unit or remotely via a console, thanks to the Gemini's built in DMX. There's even the option of wireless DMX or Bluetooth control via a separately purchased remote module. The Gemini is ready for worldwide use, thanks to its built in 100 to 240 VAC power supply but it can also run on batteries when power is unavailable.

The Gemini has a number of convenience features, such as the ability to stack and gang several lights together with an optional yoke and hardware. You can also daisy-chain multiple lights together in Master/Slave mode, allowing a single designated "Master" light to control the others. This version of the Gemini ships with a standard yoke and a US power cable.

Light Output
Similar in design to the Gemini 2x1, the LED layout has been reconfigured with the Gemini 1x1, which allows it to create 60% of the output of the Gemini 2x1. The beam angle is 95° with a field angle of 157°.
Lighting Modes
  • CCT (Correlated Color Temperature) mode allows for bi-color (daylight to tungsten) operation with the addition of plus and minus green adjustment
  • HSI Color mode allows for full color control over hue, saturation, and intensity
  • Gel mode allows for a variety of gels to be selected from the menu
  • An Effects Mode includes TV simulation, hue burst, paparazzi, strobe, fire, squares, fireworks, emergency lights, pulse, and party lights.

    Program user presets on Channel A, which records color and intensity. It also has factory presets on channel B with increments for 2700 to 10,000K plus six user-programmable presets

    • Power and Output
    Using a single 14.4 VDC battery allows the fixture to function at 90% brightness, Using two batteries or the included power supply allows the light to function at 100% output.

    Fan and Cooling
    The fan is extremely quiet, and it is on by default. However, you can disable the fan in the menu. Please note that disabling the fan cuts the fixture's output to 50% maximum. Fan modes accessible through the menu system allow you to adjust when the fan will start, which allows for the light to operate for a limited time without the fan.

    Game changer

    I first heard about the Gemini while directing my second feature film. We were a low-budget production, and our primary lights were a 2x1 Gemini and 2 Bi-Color Astras. After production ended, I purchased two 1x1 Geminis (right when they came out), and they've changed my life. I often work as a freelancer or a one-man-crew. The reason I love these lights is their mobility. I film hotel videos often, and these lights changed the way we work. I will often run these lights off V-Mount Batteries and follow our DP through various locations, allowing us to shoot a site 5x faster than previous projects. Additionally, I love that the Gemini's have one power cord versus some lights that use three or four connectors; it makes for faster setups and teardowns. I personally use gels more than the average person, but these lights would be worth it for the ease of color-matching and their accuracy. For the size of this light, the output is incredible, especially for a soft light. My only reservation about the light was the yoke. I emailed Vitec, and they sent a replacement right away, updating the strength of the yoke. I still wish it were a hair stronger, but it's the only thing I have to complain about. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to make movies, content, or host a zoom call (why not).

    Powerful and Travel Friendly Key Light

    I travel quite a bit and I have tried out a variety of key lights over the years to not much success.  But I've been using the Gemini 1x1 and a DoP 3' Octabank as of late and it's the best travel-friendly keylight combination I've ever used. That combination is so soft on faces and still packs plenty of a punch to balance and expose in heavy natural light scenarios. I've taken this light on dozens of flights and it travels extremely well and works so great for documentary applications. You never know the space you're getting to until you arrive and this covers you in all areas. If you also find yourself in unpredictable locations more often than not, this light will be your best friend. Any piece of gear is an investment not just financially but in yourself. This light has improved my quality of work and that alone was worth it. Probably need to pick up a second one soon!

    Love this fixture, the footprint is super small and fits in many cases. The fixture and single cable make it easy to travel with and pack up for every shoot! - A ton of features with the light as well! - Special effects to any color temperature!

    My gaffer and I love using this light. We find we’re always reaching for this when we need a good panel light with effects and great color because it’s so fast and easy to setup. It’s been a real game changer in how I light my sets. It’s great!

    Best Full Spectrum 1x1 I've Used

    I own two of these lights! They are easy to setup and have the highest CRI of any full spectrum LED panel I've tested. I think the bluetooth or DMX dongle is a must to get the easiest functionality. The app is perfect for adjusting the light when I rig it up overhead.

    Great Light - small cable issu

    This light is built like a TANK! Great features, just had a video shoot that required many different lighting setups of different colors, tones and intensity. I don't know what I would have done without it. Powerful, and soft when it needs to be. Only complaint is that I received the light with the wrong power connector. I asked BH and the manufacturer for a new one- they sent the wrong one again. Third time was the charm. I highly reccomend this light and it's accessories.

    I literally use this light on every shoot. There is never a scenario that this light cannot be useful! I think it is smaller and lighter than the equivalent Skypanel. The output is awesome, and having the option to battery power them is also a plus. I travel two of these in one pelican case on every flight for a job because of how great they are. One of the best purchases I have made for lighting. It's the swiss army knife of fixtures.

    What is the difference between a standard yoke and the pole oriented yoke?

    A standard yoke is designed for use on a light stand. To adjust the position of the light fixture, you would lower the stand and use the locking knobs built onto the light fixture to directly adjust the positioning of the light fixture. A pole-operated yoke is typically designed when the light fixture is used overhead or out-of-reach from the light operator. It has two color-coded cups on the yoke that is controlled by a worm gear, which allows you to use a telescopic pole to adjust the pan and tilt positioning of the light fixture from the ground without having to lower the light and/or physically adjust the locking knobs on the light fixture. If you are shooting in a studio and the light fixture will be mounted on a grid or a truss, a pole-operated yoke is usually the more popular option.
