IBE OPTICS PLX2-VV Overview

The Focal Length Extender from IBE OPTICS is designed to double the focal length of VistaVision Format PL mount lenses. It features high-index, low-dispersion glass for high resolution and contrast with minimal optical degradation. In doubling the image size, the transmitted light is spread over four times the area, decreasing the brightness by two f-stops. To create an optical design that is optimized for modern lenses and digital cameras, the maximum input T-stop is 1.9.

The PLx2 VV is designed to mount on any digital cinema camera with a native PL mount. The UMS Mount System makes it easy to change the mount to Canon EF, Sony E, or others without re-shimming.

What's the difference between the Vista Vision ...

What's the difference between the Vista Vision PLx2 version and the older PLx2 extender. The PLx2 worked on my Panasonic Varicam 35 and a Canon 17x120 PL zoom lens. Will the PLx2VV work the same way?

The difference between the Vista Vision PLx2 version and the older PLx2 extender is that the Vista Vision handles a larger 46mm image circle, compared to the 36mm of full frame.

Is the PLx2-VV extender compatible with the Kowa Anamorphic 75mm (which has a 2x squeeze, and if so, does it maintain the same 2x squeeze and anamorphic flares?)?

Yes, the Angénieux EZ-1 and EZ-2 lenses both use a PL mount so they are compatible with the IBE OPTICS Focal Length Extender For PL Mount Lenses.

is PLx2-VV extender compatible with ARRI ( Zeiss ) Master Anamorphic ?

According to IBE Optics mechanically it is not a problem. Optically it is not something they have tested. They are also concerned that Master Primes have a very high T-stop and that the quality may changing using the adapter with a higher T-stop than it is designed to handle. There concerns lead us to not recommend this combination.
