Coupling the touchscreen display with SmallHD's intuitive OS3 you can turn on various monitoring tools like waveform, false color, and vectorscope, as well as focusing aids like peaking, with a tap on the screen. OS3 also allows you to load and save profiles and load custom LUTs. Additional features include a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack and a low 5W power draw.

OS 3

Built on SmallHD's intuitive PageBuilder OS, OS3 offers the same intuitiveness of a graphical user interface (GUI), though with touchscreen navigation. Rather than have confusing menus, this GUI allows you to selectively apply monitoring tools such as waveform, vectorscope, and focusing aids to up to 12 different pages. Using the touchscreen, swipe through different preset pages and toggle monitoring tools on or off with ease.

Camera Power

Instead of powering your on-camera monitor from your DSLR or mirrorless camera, and quickly draining the camera's internal battery, the FOCUS monitor allows you to power your camera from the monitor instead (requires optional dummy battery for your specific camera). This output is active even if the monitor is turned off.

Convenient Mounting

Attach the FOCUS OLED monitor to your camera's shoe or 1/4"-20 thread using the optional FOCUS Tilt Arm.

question

I have a Canon 1DX Mark ii. Will it work with this camera and what else I need to order battery, charger and cable wise?
Asked by: raman
The FOCUS 5 On-Camera Monitor will work well with the 1D X. The monitor comes with a L bracket to hold it from the hot shoe of the camera and has the correct HDMI cable to connect it. You will need batteries. If for professional use, I would suggest two Sony NP-F970 L-Series Info-Lithium Battery Pack (6300mAh) B&H # SONPF970. If for personal project, then the Watson NP-F975 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.4V, 7800mAh) B&H # WANPF975 is a good bargain.

question

Does anyone know when the Gimbal Kit will be released?
Asked by: Ryan H.
Nope. I might be interested in it but the Focus l was sent worked for 15 minutes then went dark for good. Asked for an EXCHANGE but never recieves the replacement dispay. Paid $400 as a daily special but BH never sent another one. SmallHD recently announced a 5.5 Focus that does 1080 instead of 720 but that sucker will be selling for $700. I dont need one that badly to shell out an extra $300. The Blackmagic Video Assist 5 will do me just fine.

question

I plan on mounting this monitor to my DJI Ronin-M and a7sii. How long is the included micro HDMI cable? And is there a longer micro HDMI cable that fits into the monitor that I can purchase if needed?
Asked by: Steven S.
SmallHD sell longer hdmi cables, about 2 feet long I believe, its the right length for use with the ronin and other similar sized setups and you wont need to use any adaptors or extra connections.Another option would be to use the included micro hdmi to full hdmi adapter, and pick up either a coiled hdmi cable or an ultra thin hdmi cable. I recommend the ultra thin cable over coiled since its lighter and more flexible, which will make balancing the gimbal easier since there wont be any resistance during motion.

Hi, Love the monitor!! i have a technical ...

Hi, Love the monitor!! i have a technical question. Does the unit enable sending 5v (or similar) to the usb port? So that I could potentially use it to charge my cam? I know you have a dedicated 7v out BUT I do NOT wish to use the dummy battery system. I film weddings and if that plug gets pulled out I will LOSE my shot. There wont be any latent power in the camera before shutting down, and it wont save the file, as it does with a standard battery, therefore its much safer to power via usb power bank, i noticed the focus unit had a usb port. I hope I can use that? Thanks in advance Phil
Asked by: phil
No, you would have to use a resistor to down-volt it to 5v. The usb port on the focus was not designed for use outside of upgrading software and display calibration via external calibrators.

question

How bad/good is the latency. So many monitors have a noticeable lag. Does this one have low latency?
Asked by: Kevin A.
I can confirm this monitor does not have any latency issues. Its pretty spot on and works like a dream.

question

Is there a power option for the Canon 1DX and 1DC?
Asked by: Bill
Sorry, there is no Canon LP-E19 Battery dummy battery solution at this time for the FOCUS 5 . Not surprising given the fact Canon charges pro level money for the one dummy LP-E19 battery they make. Canon DR-E19 DC Coupler B&H # CADRE19
