A popular focal length for portraiture, the PFU RBMH 85mm f/1.8 from Viltrox is a short-telephoto prime designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The focal length pairs with a bright f/1.8 maximum aperture, which helps to isolate focus using depth of field as well as benefits working in difficult lighting conditions. The optical design comprises one extra-low dispersion element, along with four elements made from highly transparent glass, that aids in reducing chromatic and spherical aberrations in order to realize high clarity and sharpness. An HD Nano multi-layer coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. The lens has a manual focus design, which permits working with subjects as close as 2.6' away, and its nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality. Additionally, it is constructed from brass for durability and an electronic interface allows for camera-based aperture selection.

Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 Overview
Portrait-length prime is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 127.5mm equivalent focal length.
Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers a wealth of control over focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.
One extra-low dispersion element and four elements made from highly transparent glass contribute to reducing a variety of aberrations in order to produce well-corrected imagery with accurate color and high sharpness.
HD Nano multi-layer coating has been applied to individual elements to reduce flare and ghosting for improved contrast. Also, this coating is water-resistant to help protect the exposed surfaces from moisture.
Manual focus design, with a 145.9° focus throw, permits working with subjects as close as 2.6' away.
Engraved focus distance and depth of field scales benefit working with pre-focus and hyperfocal focusing techniques.
A 9-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.
Brass lens barrel construction realizes a physically durable design that also affords smooth operation.

My question is about autofocus, and the context is video. Will this lens allow the face detect feature to work in the video mode on the XT-3? I'm very dependent on having this on as often I cannot be behind the camera monitoring the focus.
Face detect will not operate using this lens on the X-T3.
