Rokinon IOLS-E Reviews
Works
Downloaded the latest firmware from Windows 10 and it just worked.
THIS THING DESTROYED MY LENS!
I just tried to update my new Rokinon 12 mm E mount lens firmware through this Rokinon lens station. The lens station disconnected from the lens before the update was complete (NOT BECAUSE OF ANYTHING I DID OR FAILED TO DO; IT JUST DISPLAYED LENS DISCONNECTED DURING THE UPDATE PROCESS)! Now the lens will not work, and it will not reconnect. Prior to this event, I successfully completed a firmware update on another Rokinon lens, and that lens will reconnect to the lens station, but not the 12 mm.
It worked perfectly.
I needed this to update my Rokinon 18mm 2.8 lens. I had tried without it but nothing worked. This lens station worked perfectly.
Does it’s job
Use for both Rokinon and Samsung lenses. Needs better instruction for software downloads and use. Once you get used to decoding the software it works just fine.
Works as it’s supposed
Received product on time, works as it should. No complaints at all.
Does what it's supposed to do
Made my pictures sharper with extra bokeh! Easy to use, no problems with the software, etc. Wish they could just do the updates through the camera body.
Mixted feeling
Very average build though. I have doubts about the long-term solidity.Very useful and efficient to optimize my Rokinon 35mm 1.8 and Rokinon 24mm 1.8 lenses. Very average build though. I have doubts about the long-term solidity.
Replaced, and still failed
I just returned to the vendor my second Rokinon lens this year that became a paperweight after it automatically disconnected from the lens station during a firmware update. And this was the second lens station that disconnected from a lens during a firmware update; Rokinon already replaced the first one. So my track record so far is that of the five Rokinon lens that I purchased or had sent as replacements, only three completed the firmware update successfully, and two disconnected during the update, using two different lens stations. You can't blame my equipment or process, because I did have a 60% success rate; that would not be possible if I was doing something wrong. The process fails randomly.
