Hoya A-62ND8X-GB overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 62mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. They have no effect on color balance.

Multi-coated to minimize reflection at the filter surfaces which reduces flare and ghosting.

Neutral Density filters have four main uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Neutral Density Factors

2x = ND.3 (exposure adjustment = 1 stop, reduces ISO 1/2)
4x = ND.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO 1/4)
8x = ND.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO 1/8)
As one of the premier filter manufacturers, Hoya filters continue to made from quality glass assuring the photographer clear, sharp and accurate images
Hoya filters consistently provide even color all the way through the filter; All surfaces are ground and polished to specific thickness and tolerances

    Hoya A-62ND8X-GB reviews

    62mm Neutral Density (NDX8) 0.9 Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 19.
    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filter Great filter! I use this on the Fuji X-T1 and 23mm 1.4 to be able to use the lens wide open in the middle of a sunny day and it works great. Reduces the light by three stops with no noticeable loss of quality. Filter is of high quality with a nice weight to it and quality glass. Highly recommended.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps the sun out, which is a good thing After a long time without one of these, I bit the bullet and bought one after purchasing just about every other filter out there. Works great. Able to open the aperture, while not totally blowing out the exposure. Great for high contrast in bright conditions. Facilitates creamy bokeh at magic hour.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from great quality and fair price I use this filter when I wish to take pictures with slow shutter speeds and small apertures ... This HOYA filter is made of an excellent quality of optical glass... and the final results when I use it with my Sony A65 and my C.Zeiss 16-80mm f/3.5 zoom lens are just perfect... This is one product that for me does the same good job that I would achieve if would have spent about double its cost... Yes, I would recommend this filter to my friends...

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Great, Great I love Hoya products. A lot better than other filter manufactures. They are made with strong materials that are also efficient in what they are suppose to do. This ND filter is an example. Some NDs can cause grain in the image, that's just what happens with NDs, but I've found Hoya's to be minimal. Great product. The price is right for it as well.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job. Purchased this item to shoot water falls, but also works great, for shooting in the blinding snow glare.

    Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst quality ever! Worst quality filter I ever had. Once I got it, tried to assemble onto my lens over Rodenstock UV filter, which I use as protector. This Hoya filter screwed in easily, but would not get out by no means. Luckily, it got stuck in other (though very expensive!) filter. Spent lots of time and effort trying to separate the filters, to no avail. At the end, this garbage-quality filter caused me double money loss: money that I've paid for it + money I've paid for Rodenstock (perfect!) filter. Will never buy again.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Right Fit I was unsure which ND filter to purchase for my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. Did an online chat, gave B&H the details and my concerns and they recommended this ND filter. Fits like a glove (this camera is not easy to fit) and on my first test drive it did what it is supposed to do. Looking forward to putting it to good use.

    Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ND filter Hoya ND filters are affordable but high in quality. I highly recommend using ND filters to be able to shoot at wide apertures at bright conditions while keeping low shutter speeds (to avoid overexposure or to be able to do blur effects). Hoya would be my first choice before going for more expensive options.
