NiSi NIP-FH100-V6-EN Overview

This V6 100mm Filter Holder Kit with Enhanced Landscape CPL Filter from NiSi allows for the convenient use of up to three separately available 100mm wide, 2mm thick filters along with an included NiSi 86mm Enhanced Landscape Circular Polarizer Filter. This kit comes fully assembled and features an aluminum alloy filter holder that is pre-installed with three pairs of plastic filter slots, a configuration that accommodates three rectangular filters. Each slot is designed to grip an installed filter only along the surface of the filter's edges. Contact with a filter's front or rear-facing surfaces is avoided, particularly when using graduated filters, whose effect can be adjusted to better suit changing lighting conditions or creative demands by sliding them up or down within a filter slot.

Use of the NiSi V6 100mm Filter Holder Kit can be easily accomplished by first screwing the included 82mm adapter ring onto a lens with 82mm front filter threads. Step-up rings are included to allow the adapter ring to be used with lenses that have 67mm, 72mm, or 77mm front filter threads, while additional step-up rings are separately available for lenses with 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, or 62mm front filter threads. After being fitted onto the adapter ring, the filter holder's pull-and-release locking pin helps to provide a reliable connection that allows the holder to be rotated 360°, further benefiting the use of graduated neutral density and other filters that are enhanced by varied positioning. To further secure the position of an installed filter, the filter holder also features a screw-in locking pin that prevents any rotation of the filter holder.

Together, the 82mm adapter ring and filter holder also accommodate the included NiSi 86mm Enhanced Circular Polarizer Filter while allowing that filter's edges to be easily gripped for convenient installation or removal. This enhanced circular polarizer filter is designed to provide a saturation effect that is approximately 25% greater than a NiSi 86mm Circular Polarizer for select NiSi filter holder kits. When combined with the filter holder and the adapter ring, as well as an optional step-up ring, the polarizer filter can be rotated to adjust its effect. In such instances, an external dial on the adapter ring allows for the independent rotation of the circular polarizer.

Adapter rings for lenses with 86mm or 95mm front filter threads are also separately available. The combination of either of those adapter rings with the filter holder cannot accommodate a NiSi 86mm circular polarizer filter; however, a polarization effect can instead be obtained by placing a separately available, 100mm wide, 2mm thick polarizer filter between one pair of the filter holder's slots.

  • Durable aluminum alloy filter holder provides three pairs of filter slots, a configuration that accommodates up to three separately available 100mm wide, 2mm thick filters
  • Each slot is designed to grip an installed filter only along the surface of the filter's edges, avoiding contact with the filter's front or rear-facing surfaces
  • Use of the filter holder can be easily accomplished by first screwing the included 82mm adapter ring onto a lens with 82mm front filter threads
  • Included step-up rings allow 82mm adapter ring to be used with lenses that have 67mm, 72mm, or 77mm front filter threads
  • Additional step-up rings are separately available for lenses with 49mm, 52mm, 58mm, or 62mm front filter threads
  • The pull-and-release locking pin on the filter holder allows for a reliable connection to the 82mm adapter ring, which allows the holder to be rotated 360°
  • The 82mm adapter ring accommodates included NiSi 86mm Enhanced Circular Polarizer Filter and allows it to rotate for adjustment of its effect
  • NiSi 86mm Enhanced Circular Polarizer Filter offers a saturation effect that is approximately 25% greater than a NiSi 86mm Circular Polarizer for select NiSi filter holder kits
  • When combined, the filter holder and 82mm adapter ring allow for easy installation or removal of the circular polarizer
  • The screw-in locking pin can be used to prevent any rotation of the filter holder, further securing the position of an installed filter
  • Additional adapter rings are separately available for lenses with 86mm or 95mm front filter threads

Nisi has always been known for their quility in design and workmanship. I'm never been disappointed in the performance of their performance. The V6 filter holder performs as expected.

I got this after researching its use on the Z 14-30 lens. The Lee system vignettes according to reviews. This one doesn't.

Meh

I have a Wine Country Camera system. Works great. However, it's not small and it's not light. Sometimes I need to pair it down, so I have been searching for a lighter, smaller system to fill in when needed. None of YouTube reviewer's ever address the big problem, and it's one WCC solves so well. Sequence is CPL, ND, then GND (or RGND, etc). It's impossible to align a GND and CPL with a 10 stop ND. 6 stop is hard enough. WCC let's you remove the ND, adjust, and drop the ND back in. Glass is in frames so they move easily and lock in. NiSi has the classic two friction frame slots, which work but it's a lot of horsing around to move filters evenly (two hands), putting strain on the lens-camera mount and it can disrupt the composition. Sliding out the ND, recomposing, and sliding it back in is not fluid. It works, just not well. I could accept that. However, with wide lenses it's often necessary to get the CPL out to avoid wavy blue skies. That's where NiSi fails. Unscrewing the CPL is hard- you need nimble fingers. Small also helps (not mine!). I tried hard, but 1 out of three times I dropped the CPL (onto a pillow!) as it unscrewed. One has to tip the camera up- loosing the composition- to avoid that. There is zero chance I would not drop the CPL, especially with gloves. The only solution I see is to have two frames- one with a CPL and one without. The other problem is the release and rotation lock knobs. They are small and close together. In low light and depending on where they end up, it can be hard to grab the right one. Maybe I could adapt. I returned it- the quest continues.

Nice system

Bought with CPL & ND6 square. Includes step down adapters for other lenses. Case will hold the components but it is soft so no protection from breakage. Holder is well made. CPL & square fit very well. Can rotate CPL with square holder & ND6 in place.

Outstanding

The filter system connected very well with my 82mm lens (24-70mm). I haven't seen any color cast but I haven't taken it through the full paces. It's bulky and has some weight but I think it will be worth it once I get additional filters.

Will the CPL work on a 95mm thread?
Asked by: Manuel
It would be a matter of getting an adapter such as the NiSi 95mm Adapter Ring for C4 Cinema Filter Holder and V5 or V6 Series 100mm Filter Holders, BH # NIPV5AD95 which allows the V6 holder and the attached CPL to fit on a lens with a 95mm filter thread. https://bhpho.to/32Z2Zmp

This kit is not compatible to the Nikon 14-24mm lens. You will need a specific holder system. Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=nisi%20%20nikon%2014-24&N=0&InitialSearch=yes&sts=ma

Can any adapter rings work with this? I have adapter rings from a generic filter kit I'm looking to upgrade.
Asked by: Rich
It comes with three adapter rings, 72, 77 and 82 mm. If needed any step up rings will work fine. However, you must use the rings supplied with the holder to attach the holder. If step up rings from a smaller diameter filter size, eg., a 62mm size, I would recommend you get a 62-82mm step up ring. Step up rings and step down rings are not the same. Use step up rings. I believe B&H sells replacement rings if needed. If you need to use a step up ring, I recommend you use the metal kind, not the cheap plastic ones. They can have a tendency to gall the threads making removal difficult.

Is the CPL big enough for my 95 filter thread? Or would I have to buy a separate CPL? I already bought the adapter for the 95mm.
Asked by: Manuel
The 95mm adapter does not support the use of a CPL. The CPL on the V6 system is 86mm and is designed to thread directly onto the 82mm main adapter that comes with the V6 system. The 95mm adapter replaces the 82mm main adapter and the filter holder itself attaches to the 95mm adapter.
