Poised for portraiture, the Sony E-mount Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 is a short-telephoto lens characterized by its fast f/1.4 maximum aperture. The bright design offers great control over depth of field, for isolating subjects using selective focus, and also excels in low-light conditions. The optical design features four high refractive index elements, which help to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize high sharpness and clarity. One extra-low dispersion element is also featured, which controls color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realize a high degree of clarity and color accuracy. Individual elements also feature an Ultra Multi-Coating, which suppresses flare and ghosting for greater contrast in strong lighting. Complementing the optical design is an Ultrasonic Dual Linear motor, and an internal focusing design, which offers fast and quiet autofocus performance. Additionally, a rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to pleasing bokeh quality.

Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 Reviews
Affordable and Wonderful!
I've had this lens for about a year and this lens has a beautiful rendition of the landscape when the lens is wide open. For a lens under $600, it has a wonderful f1.4 aperture with exceptional bokeh. Of course it's not perfect, it has VERY warm tones and colors, so make sure to adjust your white balance beforehand.
Amazing value for its price
Just got it for my R5. Takes beautiful portraits with a very smooth bokeh at f/1.4.
Dam good lens!
Let's make no mistake this lens is not the Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 but it is still a dam good lens. For me it feels awkward to hold in my hand due to it smoothest of the finish, but that is more on me than a fault of the lens. The quality of the images have exceeded my expectations and highly recommend this lens.
Beautiful Rendering and surprisingly sharp
The bokeh at 1.4 is phenomenal. Much sharper than I expected with the price I paid. AF works great, if you're not a professional that needs all of the additional switches such as on the GM or Sigma versions, this is your lens. Also very lightweight and balances well on the a7R iii.
Fast and Beautiful Wide Open
Although I write this review after only a week of testing this lens, it's fast and has beautiful rendition of the scene at wide open. For such a competitive priced lens, it is a winner for portraits and fine art image creators that don't required great corner sharpness at f1.4 and perfect bokeh on the edges. This is not a perfect lens but it works great depending on what you are using it for.
I use this lens quite a bit. If this was a Canon lens, it would only get four stars. But for the price, this lens is quite good. (It is the only non-Canon lens I have.) There is a little more distortion than my other lenses, but it is not a lot and is easily correct in Lightroom. As for durability, I would give it 6 stars. It was knocked off and table and fell 3 1/2 feet onto solid rock. I was sure it would be busted up, but is was perfectly intact except for a small ding. I still can't believe it didn't shatter. I was grateful not to have to buy another lens.
ehh..... could be better!
Colors are too warm and gets sharper at f2.8. I guess you get what you pay for.....
My husband loved his Christmas gift. The lens arrived in perfect condition and faster than expected.
