I've read it's USB 3.1 but is this deck compatible with thunderbolt 3 cable? If I switch the cable to Thunderbolt3 cable.

I have tested USB C hard drive case (Akitio) with thunderbolt 3 cables, and it does mount, but performance goes down. My advice is not to mix between Thunderbolt cables and usb cables. Other thing is computer ports, at least in Macbook pro with 4x thunderbolt 3 port it is OK if you connect a Thunderbolt device or a usb device
