Meike MK-16mm T2.2 Cine Reviews

Simple Prime

A nice solid lens. Not light weight, not plastic. Well built, all manual, no electronics for exposure, focus, or metadata. Will focus to under 12 inches. Beware there is some barrel distortion, but not too unexpected for the price. A good budget option for M43.

A lens that puts story first

Rented this and the 50mm for a shoot and was not blown away by sharpness. But what I WAS blown away by was the cleanness of the Bokeh. No LOCA (purple/green fringing). No focus breathing. And a very deep roll-off for out-of-focus areas. Oh, and they're machined excellently. The 270-degree rotation for focus means you have a lot of control of where to park your focus. In short, the image doesn't draw attention to yourself. It's free of distractions or imperfections or even incredible sharpness. For narratives, that's a good thing. Solid, fundamental glass that can get the job done and let the story be told.

Lens damaged

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with this lens when I purchased. The lens was damaged before I even got a chance to try it out. I have since then returned it. I do, however, plan on exchanging this for another one of the same 16mm so hopefully it will work out. I'll update this review once I receive a new one.

Bought this lens to go with my bmpcc 4K and the image produced is phenomenal. The bokeh produced at T2.2 is phenomenal in sunlight when paired with a variable Nd filter.

Great Cine Lens for MFT

You cannot beat this lens, at this price range for MFT. The weight of the lens just gives you the confidence that you’re not buying a dud. The crisp picture you get from this lens is absolutely stunning. There are some minor things like Chromatic Aberration is some small instances but nothing crazy you cannot fix in post. I paired this lens with my BMPCC 4k. Great lens!
