Meike MK-16mm T2.2 Cine Reviews

Simple Prime

A nice solid lens. Not light weight, not plastic. Well built, all manual, no electronics for exposure, focus, or metadata. Will focus to under 12 inches. Beware there is some barrel distortion, but not too unexpected for the price. A good budget option for M43.

A lens that puts story first

Rented this and the 50mm for a shoot and was not blown away by sharpness. But what I WAS blown away by was the cleanness of the Bokeh. No LOCA (purple/green fringing). No focus breathing. And a very deep roll-off for out-of-focus areas. Oh, and they're machined excellently. The 270-degree rotation for focus means you have a lot of control of where to park your focus. In short, the image doesn't draw attention to yourself. It's free of distractions or imperfections or even incredible sharpness. For narratives, that's a good thing. Solid, fundamental glass that can get the job done and let the story be told.
