Ambient Recording QRT-BK Reviews
Amazing product! Used to use orcas boom pole quick release, but it wasn't stable, solid and had a bit of handling noise! Ambient version is perfect very stable and no handling noise!
Very nicely machined and oozes quality. I. opted for the lower-profile black version for the time when I let the mic drop into the shot. The locking collar does require a fair amount of twist to open the locking cams and allow the mic to drop into place. If your boom pole is sitting in a fishing rod holder style holder on a stand, where it can rotate, you'll have to do a little three-handed dance to hold the boom, turn the collar and insert the mic all at the same time. So word to the wise, mount the mic on the boom before you put it in the holder.
Expensive but once you get one you will never go back
Was skeptical with the price, after fumbling and almost dropping a mic in the cold of a winter shoot decided to add one. This is my third, now I keep them on every pole and stand when on a shoot.
Expensive but perfect for protecting windscreens and mics during changes. Faster on set but the ease of use is the most valued part, no more spinning the boom pole or blimp.
QUICKLOK QUICK RELEASE MOUNT
Rugged and precise
I am a solo shooter (pretty much) and I prefer booming to lavs. I am not swapping mics but I am really glad I bought this after seeing one on the boom of the lone sound guy I had to hire. I dont find the opening mechanism awkward - its quick and it holds a mic in a Rycote grip and softie securely. I dont have to worry about it loosening in the middle of a shoot. And I like the spot of purple it adds - which was a selling point over Rycotes version.
Ambient quickLok works
A very nicely designed item for the boom pole connecting the shoot gun mic on and off the boom pole What did we do in the old days before the item become available ....
Great quick swap boom mics
These quick release mounts are great! I have them on two boom poles and and one on my sound cart! It's so handy to alternate microphones when you need to do it quickly
