Blind Spot Gear Power Junkie Overview

  • 1Description

Keep your camera running longer with the Blind Spot Gear Power Junkie, which provides long-lasting external power when coupled with a dummy battery for your compatible camera. The wired battery replaces the original battery of the camera, and it connects the dummy battery into the DC barrel port of the Power Junkie. Any of the Sony L-series (NPF) batteries are compatible with the Power Junkie to enable you to take photos or shoot video for an extended period. Furthermore, the NPF battery is rechargeable through the Power Junkie's micro-USB or USB Type-C ports. The Two USB Type-A output ports can charge external devices like your smartphone as well.

Blind Spot Gear Power Junkie Reviews

Power Junkie is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect partner for my B-Cam I picked up one of these and will be getting another two after testing it. Works great with my A7ii & my new Black Magic Pocket Camera. Although I shoot on a Sony F55, mostly single camera work, I often get requests for a second camera. The Power Junkie means I can set up the second camera (either A7ii or now Black Magic) as a lock-off and not worry about the battery dying mid-interview. The product is solid, a lot better in the hand than I thought it was going to be. It could do with an on-off switch but other than that it's a great all round bit of kit. It's brought new life to a hoard of NP-Fs I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly with the BMPCC4K. Awesome bit of kit. I’ve had it for a week now, tested it and used it on a production. So far it’s faultless. It powers the camera from NP-Fs all day long! With the mounting options, I’m using a nato adaptor which attaches directly to my small rig half cage.  For the price, versatility and quality it’s the best accessory I’ve bought for the Black Magic Pocket 4K. I've attached some pics that hopefully help.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with the Blackmagic Pocket 4k I really hope Blind Spot Gear can fix this! Even with the internal Canon LP-E6 battery for redundancy, the P4K will shut off after a few seconds of recording when the Power Junkie is connected. The power junkie is connected via the DC 7.2v output to the locking DC input on the side of the P4K. My $10 generic NP-F battery plate works absolutely fine in this configuration! even if it goes flat the P4K will continue to seamlessly run on the internal LP-E6 battery. Something must be wrong with the Power Junkie for the whole camera to switch off without warning!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All Day Battery Life for Sony Mirrorless I have had the little piece of gear for about 2 months now and I have used it on several projects. It is a very flexible power supply for your cameras and depending on how your camera rig is set up you will have the ability to power or charge up to 3 different things at the same time. I have used it with the Sony a6400 and the Sony a7iii and both cameras resulted in ALL DAY BATTERY LIFE while using the NP-F970 equivelant batteries (I used the DSTE NP-f970). I also have taken the time to test the power junkie for recording consecutive 4K clips (30min each) and the a7iii was able to record 8, 30 min 4K clips and the battery had 52% left!!! That's 4 HOURS of consecutive recording time on half of the battery! If you are a videographer that uses hybrid cameras as your primary cameras then this little addition IS A MUST. Not only is it a great power supply BUT it is ALSO a charging station for the NP-F batteries; an all-in-one piece of gear. Thank You Blind Spot Gear for a great product!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not work with BMPCC 4K and Blind Spot Adapter After trying two different brand new LP-E6 adapters from Blind Spot and several different NP-F batteries I could not get this to power my BMPCC4K so I am returning the Power Junkie. Tried Blind Spot customer service, no reply. I had hoped this would be reliable professional gear, as the high price indicates but I am disappointed.

Is this compatible with the BMPC4K, I've seen ...

Is this compatible with the BMPC4K, I've seen reviews of it online working but there are customers here who say the had issues? Can you clarify.
    Asked by: Andrew
Hi Billy from Blind Spot, The Power Junkie is compatible with the BMPC4K. using the LP-E6 dummy battery you can power the Black Magic Camera for an extended period of times. We have lots of customers using this setup and have no problems. In fact whilst designing the Power Junkie, the BMPC4K was one of the key cameras we made sure it could power. We have a review coming soon about the Power Junkie and Black Magic Camera, as soon as it's live we'll post it up. Hope that Helps Billy

I can see another customer saying it wont work with the BMPC4K but on your website and social I can see video and images that it does work with the Black magic camera. Can you confirm that it does work or am I missing something?
    Asked by: Eddie
All I can report is that it did not work for me, I bought it because it worked for a lot of other people, but tried two different dummy batteries made by Blind spot and just couldn't get it to work. I ended up with SmallRig DV Battery Plate Adapter for BMPCC / BMCC 2.5K / BMPC 4K (available at B&H) and KONDOR BLUE 14" BMPCC4K to DC Male 5.5/2.5 Power Adapter Cable 14in Weipu Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (From Amazon) this combo worked right out of the box and cost half as much as the Blind Spot alternative.
