PRomptBox Compact Mobile Overview

The PRomptBox Compact Mobile Teleprompter is a portable through-the-lens prompter that supports 7 to 9" iPads and other tablets, including the 9.7" iPad Pro. Using an included smartphone adapter, it also supports most smartphones, allowing for more flexibility. The compact prompter is compatible with small- to mid-size DSLR-style cameras and compact consumer camcorders. The lens opening on the rear of the prompter supports lenses with a front diameter of up to 98mm, and the included beamsplitter glass features a 65/35 transparency. One of the key features of this lightweight mobile prompter is that instead of a traditional teleprompter hood, it has a hard plastic matte box-style design that prevents light from leaking or flaring onto your image.

True to PRomptBox style, the Compact Mobile Teleprompter is designed to be used with virtually all camera supports, such as tripods, dollies, and jib arms, so that it can be used the common stationary way or in cinematic motion applications. For this versatility, the prompter offers a 1/4"-20 pass-through hole on the bottom so that you can incorporate nearly any optional mounting accessory of your choice, such as a tripod plate or a 15mm LWS rod adapter that attaches via a 1/4"-20 screw. The mounting accessory would go on the bottom of the prompter, lining up with the 1/4"-20 pass-through hole there, and it would need to be secured from above, on the inside of the prompter. You would need a long-enough 1/4"-20 screw and something like a thumb nut to hold everything together. These are sold separately. One suggested common solution is an optional shoe mount to 1/4"-20 male post adapter with a removable thumb nut. Many such adapters have a long 1/4"-20 post to accommodate this setup, and the removable thumb nut can be used to secure everything from the inside of the prompter. (When using a tripod plate, please make sure the mounting screw of the plate is removable — not captive — so that you can make room for the shoe mount to 1/4"-20 adapter or something like it. Generally the mounting screws of tripod plates aren't long-enough for this kind of setup.) A camera mounting bracket is included for attaching your camera and adjusting it forward and backward so you can use lenses of different lengths. This bracket is designed to sandwich in between your tripod plate (or other mounting accessory) and the bottom of the prompter. A mounting screw of your choice for securing the camera is also sold separately. Please consider a 1/4"-20 standard screw or a thumbscrew.

The Compact Mobile Teleprompter also provides a cutout on the left side and one on the right for running a power cable to your tablet without compromising light leakage. Another feature is easy access to the tablet. You don't have to open the prompter in order to remove your tablet but rather can just slide it out of the back. For convenient transport and storage, the prompter is designed to fold flat at 1.25". An optional prompting software can be purchased at the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on the device and operating system you use.

Note:
To accommodate the versatile mounting capability of this teleprompter, it features a unique mounting design with a 1/4"-20 pass-through hole. A mounting accessory of your choice, such as a compatible tripod plate or rod adapter, is required to be purchased separately. Additional hardware for attaching the accessory, and a camera mounting screw, are also sold separately. Please see above for more detail.
