Ricoh R 360 Overview

  • 1Description

Develop applications for 360° spherical live video streaming with the R 360 Live Streaming Development Kit from Ricoh. The Ricoh R is designed to be used by developers to create new live streaming applications for 360° video. It features a dual-fisheye lens design, streams and records MP4/H.264 video, and supports real-time, in-camera stitching.

The Ricoh R has a micro-HDMI type D output which supports up to Full HD 1080p59.94 video, and its micro-USB output supports up to Full HD 1080p29.97 video. The unit also supports 24-hour live streaming when used in conjunction with streaming software on Windows 10 or later, live streaming devices such as the Cerevo LiveShellX, or with custom developer software.

The camera can also record directly to a microSD card while streaming. The microSD card slot supports up to a 32GB card, and it comes with an 8GB card installed. Files can be recorded up to 4GB in size, and it can record up to 30 minutes of video in standard mode and up to 60 minutes in extended mode.

Due to its ability to live stream non-stop, the camera can become overheated if it gets over 86°F. To protect the camera, the firmware will automatically shut down the device if it detects overheating. The Ricoh R is powered by a separately available 5V, 1A power adapter using its micro-USB power port. A camera stand, two USB cables, and a carry case are also included with the unit. The Ricoh software developer kit, console, and firmware updates required for use can be downloaded from the Ricoh website.
