The latest Firmware for the Samyang AF 50mm f/1.4 FE Lens for Sony E is version 33. This came out in February 2020 and the lenses we currently stock have this Firmware installed. This lens performs well for video shooting.

We are not aware of any specific tasting comparing this lens to the Canon 50mm F/1.4/ However, this Samyang lens is designed for use with Sony E-Mount Cameras. It would be a much better choice than the Canon 50mm F/1.4 as that lens would require an adapter to work on a E-Mount camera.

how to do up the new fireware for this lens?
There is a seperate lens “station” that docks the lens and allows to attach to computer for firmware upgrades. The dock needs to be purchased seperately.
