Burris Optics XTR II Overview

  • 1Description

The 8-40x50 XTR II Riflescope from Burris Optical is designed to meet the specific demands of F-Class and benchrest competition shooters who require precise impact point correction, a wide elevation adjustment range, and a reticle that will get them on-target every time.

Its optical system pairs index-matched Hi-Lume multicoated lenses with a large 50mm objective lens to produce views that are bright and clear with high contrast and true color representation, even in low light—especially when viewing small targets at extreme distances with the scope dialed up to maximum magnification. The exposed tactical turrets make adjustments quick and easy, and with the Zero Click Stop system, there is no need to count clicks to return to zero after making adjustments in the field. To get you on-target, the turrets have an exceptional 1/8 MOA per click adjustment, with a broad 70 MOA of elevation range that gives you the room for ballistic drop at ranges past 1000 yards.

The large maintube not only maximizes light throughput from the objective, it also provides the strength to hold up against the recoil from the high-caliber rifles used in long-range shooting and the internal room required for the wide elevation adjustment range. The housing is made of a lightweight and durable aluminum treated with a scratch-resistant anodized finish, and it is nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed for water and fogproof performance. Complementing the large maintube is a triple internal spring-tension system that allows the scope to hold zero through shock, recoil, and vibrations, ensuring repeatable shot accuracy for the lifetime of the scope.

Optical Performance
  • Exceptionally wide 8-40x magnification range provides the ability to precisely dial in the correct power for shooting at all distances
  • Large 50mm objective lens ensures views remain bright and clear, even when targeting subjects at extreme long range on maximum magnification
  • Index-matched, Hi-Lume multicoated lenses provide increased target resolution, contrast, and low-light performance
  • 13.2' field of view at 100 yards on 8x power, 2.8' on 40x
Reticle Details
  • F-Class DCH non-illuminated crosshair design
  • Specifically designed for long-range F-Class and benchrest competition shooting
  • Second (rear) focal plane placement: When magnification is adjusted, the reticle size does not change, so subtension values need to be adjusted
  • 0.03 MOA thick cross-hairs
  • Center bracketed area crosshairs are 0.02 MOA thick
  • Center and lower dots are 0.125 MOA in diameter
Use and Handling
  • 1/8 MOA per click impact point correction is optimized for long-distance shot placement
  • 30 MOA windage adjustment range
  • Wide 70 MOA elevation adjustment provides the adjustment room required for long-range shooting
  • Exposed multiturn tactical turrets can be reset to zero after initial sighting
  • Zero Click Stop system allows the turrets to quickly return to zero position without counting clicks
  • Side parallax adjustment turret adjusts from 50 yards to infinity
  • 3.5-4.25" eye relief provides a generous eye box to improve comfort
  • Wide 6.25mm exit pupil on 8x, 1.25mm on 40x
Construction Details
  • Large 34mm one-piece maintube maximizes light throughput from the large objective and provides the strength and stability required to hold up against the recoil from large-caliber rifles used in long-range shooting
  • Knurled turret and focus knobs for easy adjustments in cold and wet weather
  • Lightweight and durable aluminum housing
  • Scratch-resistant matte-black anodized finish
  • Nitrogen filled to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature and environmental conditions
  • Triple internal spring-tension system allows the scope to hold zero through shock, recoil, and vibrations
