If I hung these 3 lights in a small studio, where the subject is 8-12 feet from the lights, would they be bright enough to adequately light the subject? Thanks.

Thanks Reuben. I should have mentioned the subject is usually in front of a green screen or fabric backdrop. These lights would be just for the subject as the green screen is lit separately.

What type of batteries can I use? It says P-series but I only find L-series batteries for GVM

The GVM 520S-B Bi-Color LED Panel is compatible for use with NP-F type batteries, which are also called Sony L-series batteries. We have a list of compatible recommended batteries listed under the Accessories tab on our website for this product. You would need two (2) Sony L-series (NP-F) type batteries for each light fixture.
