Nanlite Forza 500 Overview

Adopting a popular, easy-to-use form factor, the Forza 500 Daylight LED Monolight 2-Light Kit from Nanlite has a daylight color temperature of 5600K with a high CRI/TLCI of 98/95, indicating accuracy in color rendition. The kit includes two Forza daylight-balanced 500Ws monolights, each with a 55-degree reflector, control unit with V-mount battery plates, and power cord. A carry case with built-in wheels is supplied to store and transport your lights.

Powerful, Portable Lighting Solution
The Forza 500 is a 12 x 8 x 5.6" fixture that weighs just 5.5 lb, making it a portable lighting solution. Cooled by a quiet fan and dimmable from 0 to 100%, one of the light's benefits is its AC/DC power options. The light is ready for worldwide use thanks to its 110 to 240 VAC power supply, but it can also run on optional 26V batteries when mains current is unavailable. Runtime is approximately one hour at full power. The Forza 500 ships with a yoke and 5/8" receiver that accepts industry-standard light stands.
Bright Output
With the included reflector, the Forza 500 outputs an impressive 93,350 lux at 3.3'. With dimming from 100 down to 0%, you can quickly adapt the Forza 500 to any scene without adding ND filters or diffusion.
Lightweight, Compact Design
Created to eliminate the difficulties of traveling with large light fixtures, the Forza 500 weighs only 5.5 lb and is compact enough to be easily packed into most gear cases.
Accurate Color
The brightness of a light is important, but without color accuracy, a lot of time and money will be lost in post-production. The Forza 500 features a CRI of 98 and a TLCI of 95, meaning you can shoot with confidence knowing the color reproduction will be precise.
Quick Change Modifier Mount
To keep up with the speed of production Nanlite kept the Forza 500's modifier mount is fast and simple and uses a Bowens mount. With one push of a button and a quarter turn you can swap out any of the specifically designed Nanlite light modifiers.
Practical Effects
With pre-programmed special effects in a simple-to-master menu system, the Forza 500 makes it easy to imitate lighting scenarios that can otherwise be tricky to recreate. At the touch of a button, you can simulate the lighting effects of lightning, a TV screen, a flash, and a flickering light bulb.
Power Anywhere
Optimized for use in the studio or on location, the Forza 500 can run off either the included AC adapter or two optional 26V batteries, so you can operate in any location regardless of power availability.
Satellite Control and Power Station
To keep a low center of gravity and the controls easily accessible, the Forza 500's control panel, AC adapter, and battery plate have been combined into one satellite unit easily hung from any light stand. The satellite also serves as the DMX connection point enabling the Forza 500 to be quickly adapted to any DMX-controlled environment.
Studio and Location Ready
Supplied with a standard 5/8" receiver mount, the Forza 500 can be mounted directly on any standard light stand, while the 360-degree rotating yoke makes it easy to adjust an angle or hang the light from the ceiling for studio use. Also, thanks to the Forza 500's active, quiet fan, it's suitable for sound-sensitive situations.

Nanlite Forza 500 Reviews

Bare Bones but Bright

The output on the 500s is enough to easily use them in sunlight or with a bright background. The weight and balance on the lights makes them easy to work with and the ballasts are simple enough to use that you don't need a manual to get started. One bummer is that they do not include any remote control systems out of the box. They're meant to be paired with a remote control unit, which makes it sort of a pain to quickly adjust both lights at once. We haven't decided yet to purchase the remote device and will continue to test them on shoots to see if it's a required element.

I was just about to buy a used set from ebay for $1700 but B&H ran a deal or something and I got it for less! Quality instruments / build. THese are now my main lights (until I get some 720's)!

Great light - minor QC issue but already a powerhouse

Overall really happy about this purchase, as a frequent renter of 300d and 600d kits this has lived up to the quality of light I expect on set thus far and has nearly the output of a 600d. Slightly warmer temp than a 600d, which does have a slightly cooler look to my eye. Personal preference on which you prefer. My only issue is the LCD screen on the ballast has a few dead lines (permanently on full vertical lines across the screen). They don't impact performance and there isn't anything they inhibit me reading, but, its annoying. Nanlite has a good warranty that I can send it all in for exchange (I've spoken with them about this) but you have to send the entire unit and not just the ballast for replacement. Still would recommend as you can buy 2 for the price of 1 600d setup.

I love this light! It's really high output helps to balance bright sun and backlit scenes. I picked up the accessory 9.3 inch 10-45 degree "glass" Fresnel lens with metal barn doors (This is a great tool for many of my shooting scenarios). I also purchased the head extensions which save me allot of trouble on tall light light-stands. The one feature that I like most is that the 500 Forza can run on two 26V V-Mount batteries and allow for the full 500W output! Which is awesome for out door situations where a/c power is not available, and the "Active fan is indeed pretty quiet! All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with my choice. Others suggested that I should choose the Aputure LS 600D over the Forza 500... I am very satisfied going with the 500 Forza!

Really a fantastic light with a lot of firepower. Wish I would have bought sooner. Planning to round out a kit of Forzas. Nice build quality, fan has not been an issue with audio recording

Can you suggest a hard case that can house 2X ...

Can you suggest a hard case that can house 2X Forza 500 and a Forza 200? Nanuk or Pelican or SKB will work. If it can fit ONE or TWONanlite Fresnel Lens that would be awesome. So I can pack those all in plane while returning home. Don't want to carry three bag or 2bags. If you guys can make a custom case for those all that will be awesome. Thanks

Can we buy the 2 x Forza 500W carry case separately?
Asked by: Robert
Unfortunately, the carrying case included with the purchase of the Nanlite Forza 500 LED 2-Monolight Kit is not listed as a separate accessory. As such, I would recommend to contact the manufacturer directly to inquire about a replacement case by e-mailing them at [email protected].

Does the Forza 500 work with Westcott 26V batteries? They're listed on the "Accessories" page here, but I can't get mine to work... I'm using 2 batteries, am I missing something?
Asked by: Robert
-The battery’s capacity is 150Wh, which is lower than our suggestion( we suggest more than 230Wh). -There is no continuous amp output on the label, so the output might be the problem, because we suggest more than 12A. -We will try to test these batteries as soon as possible

No. The Aputure spotlight is the one Aputure accessory that does not fit NanLite Forza 300 or Forza 500.
