Built to deliver top-shelf sound in a compact, bag-friendly, and easy-to-use format for singer-songwriters, guitarists, and podcaster duos, the third-generation Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2x2 USB audio interface lets artists and content creators score pro-level tone with no learning curve, no matter where they go.

Equally capable for tracking vocals and instruments, the two improved Scarlett microphone preamps feature switchable phantom power for condenser mics and a selectable-per-channel Air circuit, which adds clarity-enhancing brightness based on Focusrite's legendary ISA preamplifier. The two XLR-1/4" combo inputs are outfitted with switches that allow them to accept signal directly from electric instruments such as guitar and bass or from line-level sources such as stereo mixer outputs or a hot feed from a drum machine.

Unlocking the ability to record at standard CD quality or high-fidelity resolutions, the 24-bit / 192 kHz AD/DA converters ensure that signals are captured and reproduced with detail and accuracy. Listen through headphones or connect active speakers to the balanced 1/4" monitor outputs, and enjoy independent control of the headphone and speaker volume settings. Use selectable direct monitoring in mono or stereo to hear your live input signal with no distracting echo or latency.

With its bus powering for uninhibited portability, space-saving USB Type-C connection, and extensive software bundle including virtual instruments, plug-in effects, loops, and more, the Scarlett 2i2 gives you plenty of powerful tools to kick-start your inspiration; just plug the Scarlett 2i2 into your Mac/Windows computer or iPad Pro (with USB Type-C), fire up your preferred audio recording software, and let the creativity flow.

Portable and Bus Powered

Both compact and lightweight, the Scarlett 2i2 is rugged and ready to travel with you. Being bus powered via USB Type-C connectivity, it can be used in any room or even remote locations, with your preferred DAW on a Mac/Windows computer or using an iPad Pro equipped with USB Type-C and a music-making app such as Garageband, Cubasis 2, Auria Pro, Ampify Launchpad, Ampify Groovebox, or Ampify Blocs Wave.

Pristine, High-Resolution Conversion

Thanks to its high-performance 24-bit / 192 kHz AD/DA converters, the Scarlett 2i2 is equipped to capture any source from vocals to acoustic and electric instruments clearly and accurately, so you never have to worry about the interface clouding your sound.

Scarlett Mic Preamps with Customizable Tone

The two upgraded third-generation Scarlett mic preamps features switchable 48V phantom power to accommodate your favorite condenser mic and a selectable-per-channel Air setting, which reproduces the Air effect of Focusrite's original ISA mic preamp to impart enhanced brightness and openness on your vocal recordings.

Instrument/Line Input Switches

The XLR-1/4" combo inputs on the Scarlett 2i2's front panel allow distortion-free recording of instruments such as electric guitar and bass, synthesizers, or drum machines, and there's no need for a DI box or amplifiers. At the press of a button, each 1/4" input can be used for line-level sources like a mixer's stereo output or the line outs from guitar and bass amps.

Straightforward Controls and Level Indication

With the Scarlett 2i2's Easy Start tool and independent gain knobs with multicolor gain halo meters, you'll have no trouble getting set up and dialing in the perfect levels. Plus, there are no menus or complicated controls to slow you down.

Independent Headphone and Monitor Outputs

The balanced 1/4" TRS monitor outputs on the rear panel ensure hum-free connectivity with balanced studio monitors. For critical listening through headphones, just plug your earphones or headphones into the front-panel 1/4" headphone jack. Separate knobs are provided for quick and independent adjustment of the monitor and headphone volumes.

Latency-Free Monitoring

No musicians want to record if they can't hear their performance clearly. Use the Scarlett 2i2's direct monitor switch to listen to your input signals in mono or stereo, exactly as they are supposed to sound, with no latency and no distracting echo.

Focusrite 2i2 Reviews

So Much Power in Such a Small Box

The set-up for the Scarlett is a little lengthy, but the whole process takes less than an hour. I have a microphone, guitar, and headphones plugged in at all times and they all work perfectly with this audio interface. Unless you need something more professional, this is perfect for personal use

Issues to keep in mind

1. You cannot use it in standalone mode, so computer is always required (It will not take power from USB power supply). This become a problem when I was trying to feed output to the camera which is connected by USB to the same computer. It creates vary bad case of ground loop. 2. It is not going to give you good sound on high impedance headphones. My Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm work, but have weak low freq. 3. Preamp for dynamic mic might be noisy. I am using Rode PodMic and for effective gain I am on edge of introducing noise. You may need to use something like Cloudlifter ($150) depends on your gain requirements.

Problem solved.

I was having problems finding the right solution for my podcast. I needed a simple system where I could run two XLR mikes into my laptop with gain level controls. Problem solved at an affordable price.

I bought this bundle to start with my piano recording. It's plug and play, great quality from the Audi Techinica Mic included.

Very satisfied with the purchase of the Scarlet 212 bundle with AKG mic, XLR cable, pop filter, headphones and mic boom stand. Simple to use and I started recoding vocals and guitar right away. The quality of the items are top notch, no complaints. If your looking forward to recording and showing off your talents, this would be a great purchase.

My friends recommended I get this package and I have not regretted it for a day. If you feel like you need something good but don't have the money to spend on buying yachts, I urge you to get this.

Fantastic

My setup starts with the Big Knob passive monitor controller where I have my Numark mixer connected in one channel and my PC via 3.5mm plugin on the other. However, trying to play the Arturia Minilab MK2 had too much delay and had to bite the bullet and get this. It solved that problem and now I can plugin my bass. However, I should've put more thought into it and should've gotten the Solo instead. Hopefully, I found more uses for the other line.

Excellent
