The Princeton Tec Apex Pro LED Headlamp utilizes a Maxbright primary LED and four Ultrabright secondary LEDs to produce a powerful illumination device that is ideal for a wide variety of jobs and tasks from camping and spelunking to fire and rescue, emergency preparedness, or just working in the dark. This model of the Apex Pro features a red light case and a black and gray strap.

The primary LED has a proprietary collimator lens that directs the light from the LED and optimizes the beam for a long throw that will illuminate the road or trail far ahead of you. The secondary LEDs produce a wide beam that lights a large area close to you for working, cooking, or setting up camp. The spotlight has low, medium, and high outputs and the floodlight has high and low outputs so you can balance beam intensity with battery runtime, depending on your needs. To add even more versatility to the light, the spotlight has an ultra-low "dim" mode that is ideal for reading without hurting your eyes or disturbing others and a flashing floodlight to signal your location or to stand out while walking or biking on the road. The light is controlled by dual push buttons that have tactile indicators—a single dot for the primary and four dots for the secondary—so you can be sure which light you are controlling by touch.

The housing is made of a lightweight and impact-resistant plastic and is sealed to an IPX7 rating, making it waterproof and submersible. To help reduce neck strain and increase output and runtime, Princeton Tec located the battery case on the back of the head strap. Moving the batteries to the back of the head evenly distributes the weight to make it more comfortable to wear and keeps the light from sliding forward during strenuous activity like rock climbing or running. If the weather takes a turn or you fall while fording a stream, the light and battery holder are IPX7 rated to be submersible to 3.3' for up to 30 minutes. To make fast battery changes in the field, a tool to open the battery case is integrated into the crown strap buckle so you don't have to carry extra tools with you.
