Apple iPod touch 7th Generation Overview

Crafted for more than just music, the 7th generation 256GB iPod touch from Apple delivers immersive augmented reality gaming experiences, gives you the ability to connect with friends via Group FaceTime, and grants you access to everything the App Store has to offer. Inside the iPod touch is the A10 Fusion chip.

The A10 has been engineered to pack enough processing punch to give you fluid performance while running the latest mobile games and augmented reality experiences.

When it comes to music, the iPod touch gives you 256GB of storage space so you always have your favorite tracks on hand. You also have the ability to subscribe to Apple Music for millions of streaming options. Listen with some (optional) Bluetooth headphones, or plug the included Apple EarPods into the built-in headphone jack.

The iPod touch also features a rear and front camera for snapping HDR photos, 1080p videos, and connecting with friends over Group FaceTime. However you choose to have fun with the iPod touch, you'll play and manage it all through a sharp and vivid 4" Retina display.

Gaming + Apple Arcade
With the A10 Fusion chip and brilliant 4" Retina display, the Apple iPod touch makes for a powerful mobile gaming solution that looks great. Its support for AR games and apps gives you the ability to overlay your digital fun onto your real-world surroundings. Have monsters stomp around the playground, race a friend across a desk, or blast spaceships out of the sky above you.

The 7th generation iPod touch also supports Apple Arcade. It's a gaming subscription service from Apple that gives you unlimited access to over 100 new games without ads or in-app purchases. You can play them online or off, and the experience can transfer across all of your Apple devices. Play your favorite game on your new iPod touch, then throw it up on your Apple TV when you get home.
Group FaceTime
With the built-in camera, you can use your iPod touch to FaceTime with a friend or Group FaceTime with up to 32 friends at the same time. The tile of whoever's talking gets bigger automatically, so it's easy to keep track of the conversation. You can even jump into a Group FaceTime session right from a group text in Messages.
Messages
The iPod touch supports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for access to the internet, App Store, and other online services, like Messages. With Messages, you can send free texts that are filled with animated effects, stickers, and more. Send them to anyone who uses an iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Apple iPod touch 7th Generation Reviews

Pocket Storage

Nice to have 200gb of Books, Movies, Audiobooks, and Pics all in my pocket for travel days. One star demerit for battery life. Take a solar battery charger with you.

Nice upgrade on a classic

There's a modest speed upgrade, and a big bump in storage. Of course, the iPod Touch is close to perfect.

Big Differance from 5th Gen

Having lived with the 5th Gen since 2012, I can now update old apps and the speed on this is incredible. My old one was 64GB. I now have the storage for all my music and Photos. It is a pleasure to run the newer apps and be able play games faster than ever.

Love this iPod!

The iPod touch (7th Generation) has exceeded all expectations! I use it strictly for listening to music while hiking and running with my dog, and at 256GB has plenty of room to hold my entire music library. As I frequently encounter elk I also have the capability for photographs and video, should I choose to do so. I use the iPod touch with the AirPods Pro and that is an unbeatable combination! I am thrilled with this purchase!

Missing some iPod (classic) functionally...

Obviously I wanted to replace an iPod Classic I accidentally burnout a channel on... So the music functionally is what I care about most, and this is where it falls short compared to the Classic... One item missing is the song rating, I download around 2000 tracks a year, from which I extract 65 tracks for a five-hour set, so I use the rating feature to highlight tracks I need to take another look at... I have to say, the design of the Classic was brilliant for listening to stored music...

This is a clarification on a previous question. ...

This is a clarification on a previous question. Battery life. Apple - and the previous answer - say you get about 40 hours of playing music on a charge. Fine. But my problem has been that on my previous models, if you let the IPod out of a charger, but never turned it on, it would still fully discharge in about 3 days. A constant source of frustration. Have they improved this aspect? My IPad can hold a charge, unused, for much longer.
Asked by: David
Discharge, when the unit is left on, is still roughly that extreme. You would think they could design it to throttle down when inactive and not have this issue. It is also terrible on that account for audio books, since booting the device is so slow, not to mention that the native audio player can't remember its location in the previous track. Lacking the necessity of keeping it active and charged that a phone has, its practical utility is fairly limited. If Apple is such a valuable high-tech company, as adherents regard it, why can't it iron out such limitations with this relatively expensive, basic device?

How is the battery life on this IPod? I have had several previous generations and my only complaint is that if I don't leave it in a charging dock, after three or four days the battery is drained, even if never used.
Asked by: David
The I touch has a off button on it. When not in use, turn it off. When i leave it on it generally will go dead or low charge in about 5 days.

I have a Yamaha R-S202 and I can't get bluetooth to pair with my iPod Touch. Does this iPod support A2DP? The Yamaha manual says that this could be the problem. If the iPod does support A2DP then what could the problem be? Yes bluetooth is turned on.
Asked by: William
This iPod supports A2DP. Often another device is causing interference like a Wi-Fi router, computer, microwave oven, etc.
