Built on the foundation of the popular LS C300d, Aputure's Light Storm LS C300d Mark II LED Light Kit with V-Mount Battery Plate is an enhanced version with 20% more power, refined features, and advanced connectivity. Aputure uses Chip on Board (COB) technology to produce a 5500K color temperature, with power consumption of just 350W, while outputting 3500 lux of light with an efficient reflector at a distance of 9.8'. The LS C300d II's performance is backed by its design. The all-aluminum construction goes through numerous fabrication steps, and the reflector and accessory mount is the widely used Bowens S-Type. A wireless remote that allows you to control on/off and dimming functions from distances up to 328' is included. And speaking of control, Aputure also offers the Bluetooth Sidus Link App Control which allows wireless adjustments of all the light's functions as well as effects such as Lightening, Pulse, Flash, and Explosion. Ideal for sound-sensitive environments, the LS C300d II can be seen but not heard thanks to a highly efficient fan that can be turned off when absolute silence is required. The LS C300d II is ready for worldwide use thanks to its 110-240 VAC power supply but it also has two battery plates, allowing you to use V-Mount batteries for external power when mains current is unavailable. The LS C300d II is delivered with a power cable, a DMX cable to connect to the ballast, a wireless remote, a base for an optional clamp, and a beefy carrying case that can support 220 lb to protect the light during transport and storage

Changing the Game

A couple of years ago, Aputure impacted the industry with the 300d, creating a powerful and compact LED fixture that could be modified easily. Filmmakers from around the world were impressed by the light's capabilities, but encouraged by user feedback, Aputure produced the redesigned and improved 300d Mark II. The light is 20% brighter than its predecessor, more durable, more portable, and "smarter" than the original 300d.

Even More Output

By utilizing the latest in Aputure COB LED technology, the 300d Mark II outputs a whopping 20% more light than its predecessor. When combined with the optional Fresnel 2X, the 300d Mark II can produce up to 80,000 lux, approaching the luminance of a 575W HMI! And as always, the 5500K-balanced 300d Mark II maintains very accurate color fidelity with CRI/TLCI ratings of 96+.

A More Robust Lamp Head

The 300d Mark II also introduces redesigned features, while maintaining the same form factor and lightweight aircraft aluminum body as the original 300d. The latest yoke allows for 360° of rotation, and when combined with the handbrake locking mechanism from the 120d Mark II, you'll be able to mount the light in any position, with any modifier.

Maximum Efficiency with Hyper Reflector

The 300d Mark II is also the first Aputure light to feature the all-new, hyper efficient 55° reflector. By slightly narrowing the beam from 60 to 55° and redesigning the inner shape and coating of the reflector, Aputure was able to increase the output of the 300d II by more than 3-times, when compared to the original design.

A Redesign Revolution

The control box is completely redesigned. By utilizing Aputure's fan‐less heat sink design, the 300d Mark II's All-in-One control box is now completely silent. Composed of a durable aluminum alloy, with a new concealed antenna and military-grade paracord strap, the control box is ready to withstand the rigors of any film set. The 300d Mark II control box is also the first product to utilize Aputure's quick release plate and clamp system, allowing you to firmly secure it on any stand, truss, or speed rail.

Power Solutions for Indie Filmmakers

The 300d Mark II can produce its maximum output by using two high-capacity V-Mount or Gold Mount batteries, but it also features advanced technology that allows you to power the light with a single battery at up to half output. The included 19.7' Neutrik cable provides the 300d II with a sturdy power connection and allows you the convenience of not having to grab a stinger to power your light.

Enhanced Control Features

The control box of the 300d Mark II features 8 built-in lighting FX: Paparazzi, Spark, Lightning, Faulty Bulb, TV, Pulse, Flash, and Explosion, with more coming in future firmware updates via the control box's USB interface. The control box also features a trigger button to activate lighting FX instantly.

Stepless Dimming

The long-awaited 0 to 100% stepless dimming control allows you to use the 300d II in low-light environments or to overpower the sun and can utilize any of 4 different dimming curves: Linear, Logarithmic, Exponential, and S-Curve.

The 300d Mark II also features a Studio Mode that allows the lights to turn on and be controlled immediately upon receiving power, making it ideal for DMX lighting grids.

More Options for Control

In addition to the control wheel, the 300d Mark II also features DMX512 compatibility, a 2.4 GHz Aputure Wireless remote with an FX toggle button, and the ability to be controlled by the Sidus Link App using a Bluetooth mesh network protocol.

Sidus Link App Control

Featuring recently introduced Bluetooth SIG mesh network technology, the 300d Mark II will also the first app-controllable Aputure lighting fixture. This technology will allow you to control a 300d Mark II from up to 1300' away, by linking multiple lights up to 262' apart. Using the Sidus Link App, you'll be able to access all of the functions of the control box, in addition to being able to save presets, finely tune and trigger additional lighting FX, as well as install firmware updates, all from your smartphone or tablet.

Redesigned Carrying Case

Aputure also made the carry case with grip trucks and run-and-gun filmmakers in mind. The new 300d Mark II carrying case is composed of durable walls with a soft exterior lining that can support up to 220 lb, providing both ample protection and a seat for you on set. The bottom of the case is also covered with an easy-to-clean, slash-proof material, letting you rest easy, knowing your 300d Mark II will survive just about any situation you throw at it.

My favorite light of all time

This light is just bright enough for literally everything I need it for on a small/medium production cite. I have two of them that I use on almost every shoot to get the perfect lighting for my films.

Fantastic.

Compared to similar options I felt like this packs down much better to take it on the road. Overall seems like great quality.

So much better than expected

I bought the 300d mk II to replace no-name light I'd bought a few years ago from (that mega shopping site) for nearly as much money. I can compare the quality of the two next to each other, and it's unbelievable how much better the 300d mkII is. Just such a better construction, well designed carrying case (I'd been hauling the other around it's busted up cardboard box!) but above all else it is SILENT. The noisy fan on the other didn't really bother me until I heard how quiet the 300d is. Worth it for that alone. Works well with modifiers-i have a few soft boxes for it of various sizes that I've collected over the years, as well as the aperture light dome. I bought the spot and barn doors when I bought this-I have not needed to use them yet, but I'm sure they will perform as advertised. If I had any feedback I would say I wish the carry bag had enough room inside it for at least one of the modifiers. Small quibble, to be sure. Everything else is thoughtfully designed and well made. I have not tried

Much better than the Mark I version.

The designers of this version went a long way to eliminating some of the bothersome constraints and packaging. They integrated the control box with the ballast, lengthened the yoke so that it can hold the light vertically, and made it 20% brighter. This is my first light with Sidus Link built in, which is easy to use and yet powerful. Bought the Sidus Link Bridge to control the rest of my Aputure panels.

Incredible quality. Not just the quality of the output of the light, but the construction itself. Very pleased. Love the included bag, too. Great design, Aputure!

I sold everything to ARRI and bought this wonderful light. It's fantastic. It 's a dream !!!

DOES flicker at anything less than 100% brightness

I filmed this light at 50,000 fps with a phantom camera. At anything less than 100% brightness, the light flickers at around 7,500 Hz. It's observable as a slight dimming at 99% brightness, a fully on-off cycle at 50% brightness, and so on. With that said, I still think this light is a great choice for high speed camera work at 100% brightness (all I ever use anyways).

Regarding battery operation, I understand ...

Regarding battery operation, I understand according to Aputure's documentation that 15A batteries are required to power the 300d II, based on the logic of 350W max power draw requires (12V * 15A) * 2 = 360W. My question is, if I own many 12A batteries, is there a safe way to use them with this light, by capping the output following this equation: 12V * 12A = 144W max draw 144W is more or less 40% of 350W So one battery should provide safely and reliably 40% of total output capacity. 2 batteries should provide 80% of total output capacity. Meaning if I underpower the light using these values, I should be ok. Is that logic sound?
Asked by: David
I am surprised that Aputure gave that answer... As power electronics engineer with 40 years of experience, I do not recommend running your LiIon batteries beyond their rating for any length of time. Depending on the quality and age of the cells, and depending on the protection circuits built-in to the battery, you cannot assume it is safe to operate them beyond their rating - this is how battery-pack fires start. Having said that - yes your logic is sound. Running at 80% max will keep the packs within a safe operating region (12 A). I am also surprised that Aputure did not know that - when you have a single battery installed and set the power level to 80% - that really is 40% (the output of the power supply is cut in half with only 1 V-mount installed). So you only need to worry about keep the setting to 80% or below regardless of whether 1 or 2 batteries are attached. As a final note - the red-colored V-mount is the master. If you have only a single battery it must be on the red mount. The second battery goes on the black mount. Once the #1 battery on the red mount runs out, the light shuts-off, regardless of how much charge is remaining in battery #2. So plan accordingly to get the longest operating life.

So how are people usually mounting an 85 filter or gel on this unit? C-47’s? Is there a barn door for this unit?
Asked by: Michael
I use C47's (clothes pins) to clip gels to the inside of my soft boxes. Or to the outside of the light by draping the gels side to side from yoke. No burnt gels. No burn clips. I also have Barn Doors (bought separately) and they came with gel holders. But I am not a big fan of the barn door system as it clips to the round cone, not very securely.
