Viltrox Automatic Extension Tube Reviews

Cheap but effective

The build quality is awful, they are cheaply made but they fit ok on my Z7 and 105 macro, and they do what they are supposed to do. At the time of purchase this was one of the cheapest options, but I still feel like I overpaid. I've never had any other extension tubes, so maybe they are all like this, but I'm disappointed with the quality for the price. If you get them on sale, maybe its a decent buy. Cheap lightweight plastic, a bit sticky or clunky trying to get them on and off, I always feel like they are going to break. They do work though, so there's that, once fully engaged the fit has no wobble but I don't expect them to stand up to the test of time.

Great value.

I bought these tubes to use with my old Panasonic Lumix G2. The quality of them is good and they mount solidly. When using both tubes, there's just a tad of slack but nothing to worry about. Good quality, great price. Just a heads up-they do NOT come with body and rear lens caps.

I loved it. It increased my magnification a lot of my current macro 1:1 lens. And because of its electronic contacts and can use auto focus. LOVE IT

Good set of Extension Tubes

These tubes fit the Canon EF mount fairly well. Easy to attach to the lens and to the camera. I have some difficulty when trying to stack the tubes together. The mounts seem to have a little bit of trouble meshing together. Don't have this problem with the attaching to the lens or the camera, only connecting the tubes together. Electrical connections for lens metering and control seem to work well.

Don't Fit

These extension tubes do not fit my Olympus micro four thirds camera (EVOLT E-300). They are completely useless for me. I will be returning them.

These work seamlessly with my Sony FE lenses.

Stay away from this Extension tube

Both extension tubes are manufactured with very loose tolerances. They wobble on the camera and the lens wobbles on the tubes. In my opinion it is totally worthless for macro work. I should have paid attention to some of the previous reviews.

I am planning to get this set to use on the Nikon Z MC 105mm 2.8, not sure whether the focus point would be inside of the lens or not when I stack both the 12mm and the 24mm together?
Asked by: CALVIN JIAWEN
When using both the 12mm and 24mm extension tubes in the Viltrox Automatic Extension Tube Set for Nikon Z together, the magnification of your lens will increase, and it will allow you to focus closer than using the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Macro Lens by itself. However, it does not indicate the new minimum focus distance when using the extension tubes on the Nikon NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S Macro Lens.

Does this allow autofocusing and image stabilization with Canon EF-S lenses?
Asked by: Nicole
Most lenses will autofocus but it does not support lens image stabilization. And depending on the camera the AF might not function because of the light loss using extension tubes.

I have an Fisheye Opteka 6.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye for Canon, this extension work with Sony ZV E10?
Asked by: Renan
That lens is too wide. If you use an extension tube like this you won't be able to focus. Extension tubes are usually for lenses over 30mm in focal length or you may end up having the focus being behind the lens.

Can this be attached to the MC-20 teleconverter? i.e. Camera=MC-20=Viltrox = lens
Asked by: morgan
I would not recommend using the Viltrox Automatic Extension Tube Set for Micro Four Thirds on the Olympus MC-20 M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter. The Olympus MC-20 M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter is designed for use on specific Olympus M.Zuiko telephoto lenses to increase the lens' focal length, whereas the Viltrox extension tubes are designed to increase magnification for close-up photography, but causes you to lose focus at infinity. The two items are not typically used together, and Viltrox has not tested the use of their extension tube with the Olympus teleconverter.
