Protect your lenses, photographic and optical equipment, mobile electronics, and other valuable accessories from excessive moisture, dirt, and dust with the Ruggard 80L Electronic Dry Cabinet. The cabinet's fast-acting TE Cooling Wafer regulates the interior's relative humidity from 35-60% to help prevent fungus and corrosion that can damage your gear. Humidity adjustments take place over a 1- to 3-hour period.

Fully-featured, the cabinet has a lockable, rubber-sealed glass door, with two keys, and a front metal handle. A large, dimmable LCD displays ambient temperature (in Fahrenheit or Celsius), relative humidity, and other settings. Interior LED lights make viewing and finding gear easier, and both the base and the adjustable steel shelf is padded to help guard against scratches.

The Electronic Dry Cabinet is powered by an included multi-voltage power supply. In addition to being near silent, without a fan or compressor to make noise, the unit is also dripless, eliminating the need for a water tray. To prevent unwanted movement, the bottom of the cabinet has four rubber feet and two are leveling feet for installing on uneven surfaces.

Electronic Dry Cabinet (80L) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from door fell off This review deals only with the physical condition of the cabinet when it arrived, as I havent had a chance to gauge its operation yet. When I unpacked the cabinet the door fell off because the small rod that acts as the doors lower hinge was not attached properly. The rod is supposed to fit in a hole in a flange attached to the cabinet, but was just sitting loosely on the flange. I was able to remove the flange and used a hammer to pound the rod into the hole so that it is now firmly seated. Of course a device in this condition should never get out of the factory, but the repair I made should at least make it usable. If I run into any more problems I will revise this review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Size and Function The 80L is the perfect size for what I was looking. I was also looking for the smallest cabinet possible to store my two Canon DSLRs (7D MII & 5D MIV), one large lens (200-400mm with internal 1.4 ext.), two medium lens (300mm F4 & 70-200mm F2.8), two smaller lens (17-55mm F2.8 & 24-105mm F4), couple of flash units, spotting scope, and spare batteries. The 80L cabinet did the job nicely. The only problem I had was when I placed the shelf in the middle it interfered with the lock, so I just lower the shelf a little and everything is fine.? The unit is easy to set up and it is quiet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent results..... Packaging was sufficient and arrived promptly without issue. This thing works, and is quiet (very) and efficient (8 watts). I have kept my gear in an a/c'd room, but in the summer (Florida), everything fogs up when I go outside. Then it takes 10 minutes to acclimate. No longer. Now I can walk out and shoot from the get go if need be. I left the door open and found out my a/c keeps the humidity in the room at around 60%. Not great. If you live in a humid environment, this is a great investment. It's also a nice way to store your gear in a clean environment. The box is large enough for 3 camera bodies, a dozen lenses including a Tokina 300mm 2.8 prime (beast). I even have my teleconverters in the 80L as well. I'd buy it again....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent cabinet! Glad I went with the 80L! When it arrived, my first impression of the Ruggard 80L was that it is a very big, well built cabinet that feels surprisingly light. In fact, its sheer size almost had me second guessing my decision, wishing I had gone with the significantly smaller 30L, however that feeling went away once I started loading it up with gear. I bought my Ruggard 80L to store 2 Canon APS-C bodies, 6 lenses (the largest being a 55-250mm zoom), and several photo filters. After loading it up, I found that I had enough room left over for a couple external hard drives, my phone, a tablet, 3 speedlites, and wireless adapters. So far has proven to be a great investment, keeping the humidity levels down to a reported 40%. I live in a very humid climate, where it can be as high as 80% on any given day, so this was a must-have investment for me. I had previously looked in to Pelican cases for home storage, however, that wasn't a very practical nor elegant solution for my needs, so ultimately the Ruggard cabinet was the way to go for me for its ease of access and the peace of mind it provides. In the future, I may consider investing in a full standing cabinet as I acquire more gear. If I do, that cabinet will most likely be another Ruggard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good for the price The dry cabinet seems to be working as expected. In a few short hours, it brought the humidity from about 70% down to the 35% which I had set it to. Everything seems sturdy enough. There was one issue when I received it. The plug inside the door had either shaken loose during shipping or came out of the factory unplugged. Once I realized the issue, I simply plugged it in myself and it has been working well ever since. Despite the plug issue, it was packed quite well. B&Hs service as usual, was very good. The only reason that I did not give it 5 stars was the plug issue which was minor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the money I purchased this through B&H a couple of weeks ago and it arrived in Fiji via DHL in perfect condition. I had initially considered the smaller unit but chose this size because I wanted to be able to store bodies fitted with either a 70-200 or 80-400 Nikon lens. Both bodies, D800 and D300, fitted with either long lens plus TC fit on the lower shelf. On the upper shelf I have 8 lenses and there's room for a couple more. On receiving the unit the ambient humidity within the room was 93% and within a few hours dropped considerably inside the unit. I'm running it set at 40% and it cycles 40 to 43%. Very pleased with the purchase, it's well made, an attractive looking unit and does what it's supposed to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Combating High Humidity Living in tropical island with high humidity has ruined several of my lens over the years. Fungus growth is a certainty unless I use all my lens often. The cost of replacing the damaged elements of a single Canon L-lens far outweighs the cost of this unit. I hope to update this review in a year when I can truly determine if it is keeping the fungus growth at bay. As far as space: Bodies: Canon 5DII, 60D & T3i. Lens: Canon 100-400L, 70-300, (2)18-135, 50f/1.4, 50macro, 18-200, 17-55f/2.8, 500D screw-on macro lens and Sigma 24-105. Plus 430 Speedlite and Binoculars. And there is still room for more stuff.

    question

Can this unit be left on 24/7? What is the power consumption?
    Asked by: Ambrose
As with appliances like a refrigerator, this product meant to maintain an environment, so there is no on/off switch. Many use a power strip or unplug when not using for extended periods. The power consumption would be 8 watts.

You may be able to stack the Rugged Electronic Dry Cabinet at your own discretion. However, it is recommended to put a ¾ or 1” piece of plywood between each unit, and possibly create a frame to support the units.

    question

Can you fit a Nikon 600mm f4 in this cabinet? Just the lens, no lens hood.

Maybe upright without problem, or a whole level dedicate for lens. Upright you can't take advantage of the entire cabinet.
