The Heat Company Softshell Overview

Keep your hands warm and dry even in the harshest conditions with these Heat 2 Softshell Mittens/Gloves from The Heat Company. When you're out in the cold, conserve heat by using the outer mitten, and then when you need to do some work, get a drink, snap a selfie, or perform any task that requires dexterity, just fold the mitten and thumb back to expose your fingers. Magnets hold the folded-back finger and thumb covers out of the way.

Your first layer of protection from the elements is a wind- and water-resistant mitten shell with Thinsulate insulation. The palm is reinforced with soft and durable goatskin which is naturally water and wear resistant. Extra-long knitted cuffs keep heat in and snow or wind out. Loops at the fingers of the glove make it easy to tug off. To find your correct size, measure the circumference of the palm of your hand at its widest point, just below the fingers. This size 9 glove equates to a hand circumference of 7.3-8.7".

Took these to quebec city. They worked well in 20 to 25 deg f weather. Well made. Thumb stays covered properly. Convenient hand warmer pocket. Convenient glove pull offs. Wind proof. Better than the Carhartt, Cotopaxi, and White Paws fingerless mittens that I tried

Great photography gloves

I recently bought these gloves for use for photograhy in cold weather after reading a very positive review online. I have Reynaud's Syndrome, so my fingers are very sensitive to the cold and can go number pretty quicky. I have tried lots of fingered gloves over the years, and none really work for me in really cold weather. only mittens. however for photography mittens just don't cut it, and I really dislike having to take them on and off to get my shots. This is especially true since I do a lot of bird photography and so have to be able to react quickly to get the shots I want. I have had these gloves for a couple of weeks now and they really do the trick. I am very happy with them. When I have the mitten part pulled over the fingers they work surprisingly well, and if I need it they have a pouch when I can put those little hand warmer packets. when I need to grab a shot, it takes just a second or two to pull the mitt back to expose my fingers. I can then get my shot and just as quickly cover back up. I highly recommend them.

We don't have reports of magnets in mittens causing issues with cameras or memory cards. Personally, I use a similar mitten with magnets and I never had any issue.

The Heact Co. Merino Pro Liners work well and provide the dexterity needed. I bought the liners 1 size smaller because I like my liners more form fitting.

Could these be used to casually ski in as well?
Asked by: Jehan
For casual skiing, the The Heat Company Heat 2 Softshell Mittens/Gloves (Size 10, Green) (B&H# HEAT2SSM10GR) would be fine since it has a goatskin palm. However, you may prefer something more durable if it would be for more energetic skiing.

1. Will a liner glove work with these or too tight? 2. Do they have pouch for hand warmers?
Asked by: Brian
I use The Heat Co. Merino Pro Liners with the mitten and they fit nicely as the liner provides the dexterity needed. I purchased the liner 1 size smaller than the mitten to ensure a comfortable fit, plus I like my liners form fitting for better dexterity. The Head Co. suggest using the Merino Liner Light with these mittens but they work with the Pro, too.
