Bundled together for B&H for your convenience, the Zoom H5 Podcasting Kit provides essential elements for recording podcasts—particularly, podcasts that take remote phone calls as guests.
The included Zoom H5 is a venerated industry-standard recorder for podcasts, and the included Samson Q2U is a handheld dynamic microphone capable of capturing quality vocals. Plug the Q2U into channel one of the H5 with the provided XLR cable. Next, plug the provided headphones into the H5's 3.5mm headphone-output jack, and you're ready to start podcasting.
But the Samson Q2U has a trick up its sleeve: A USB port that works simultaneously with the XLR output. Why does this matter? For recording phone calls over Skype and other VOIP software. Often, recording a call is challenging for the solo podcaster; guests sometimes hear echoes of their own voices due to how you're recording, and that's very disorienting.
Here's how you solve that problem with this kit: Keep the Q2U plugged into the Zoom with the XLR cable. Next, route the mic to your computer with the provided USB cable. Setup your VOIP software to receive audio from your mic (this changes depending on the computer and the operating system). Now, use the included 3.5mm cable to plug your computer's headphone output into the 3.5mm line input on the Zoom H5.
Set up the H5 to record audio from your XLR mic and the line input, and you're good to go. You'll capture your mic and your guest's phone call on two separate tracks, and your guests won't hear themselves echoing on their own line.
Zoom H5 4-Input / 4-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Interchangeable X/Y Mic Capsule

From the plentiful battery life to the powerful audio processing functions, the H5 is well equipped to handle anything from tracking live performances and podcasts to recording interviews, dialogue, and sound effects. It can supply phantom or plug-in power for condenser mics, or accept direct connections from synths, keyboards, drum machines, or +4 dB line-level mixers. Polsen HPC-A30-MK2 Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones
The HPC-A30-MK2 Closed-Back Studio Monitor Headphones from Polsen offer a solution for experiencing rich and natural sound when listening to music through a mobile device or monitoring a podcast on your computer. These headphones can also be used for DJ work, thanks to the swiveling earcups that let you monitor audio while keeping one ear free.
The HPC-A30-MK2's over-ear design isolates the sound and prevents leakage for optimum listening conditions in loud environments, such as a club or on the go. The 10' cable also gives you the freedom to move around while working and terminates in a 1/8" TRS stereo plug, which is compatible with most mobile devices and computers. In addition, a stereo 1/4" adapter is included to plug into a stereo or mixing board.
