A refined wide-angle prime, the 28mm f/1.4 FE-Plus from 7artisans Photoelectric offers both a flexible field of view along with a fast design. The bright f/1.4 maximum aperture offers increased control over depth of field and also suits working in difficult lighting conditions. Complementing this is an advanced optical design that includes aspherical, high refractive index, and extra-low dispersion glass elements to control a variety of aberrations for increased sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy. A multi-layer coating also contributes to reducing flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in bright and backlit situations. Balancing the optical merits, this lens's manual focusing design affords a 2.3' minimum focusing distance and a 13-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

FE-Plus Version
This unique lens features a native Leica M lens mount, however its optical design has been refined to better suit Sony E mirrorless cameras, and requires a separate Leica M to Sony E lens adapter for mounting to an E-mount camera.
Lens Features
Notably fast f/1.4 maximum aperture affords control over depth of field and also benefits working in low-light conditions.
One double-sided aspherical element and three high refractive index elements are used to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations in order to achieve greater sharpness and more accurate rendering.
Two extra-low dispersion elements control color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realize improved color accuracy and clarity.
Individual elements feature a multi-layer coating to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
Manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 2.3' away.
Engraved focus distance and depth of field scales benefit working with pre-focus and hyperfocal focusing techniques.
Rounded 13-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Beautiful street glass.

It’s a keeper. It’s heavy though. I use it on my a7r2 with a tech art autofocus adapter, although I may just go manual with a regular adapter and zone focus with this lens. The imagery I’m getting off this lens is more appealing than some Of the Zeiss glass I use. The contrast and creaminess is what I like most. Not a stickler for its technical shortcomings, and they are small. You can see on YouTube. The weight is a small issue. Use a comfy strap for long street days. The images have Pleasing character to me. Vintage feel that’s crisper than vintage lenses. Consider using this as a dedicated manual lens for simplicity and weight. I set my stabilization in body for this lens. (you can on a7 bodies)

I think 7artisans will be the next voigtlander

If you are looking at this lens, you might like me be interested in the 28mm field of view, and specifically want the manual controls and depth of field scale (for zone focus techniques). If so you are going to love this lens. Its faster and cheaper than Ultron 28/2. The FE plus version seems optimized for the Sony FF sensor, although I am not a corners pixel peeper (the street photography use case generally doesn't care). There is an excellent lens hood available for it separately, which is a clear design homage to the 15x more expensive Summilux. I also have their 75mm f/1.25, and am going to keep these lovely lenses (and am imagining a used M body in my future...)

A great lens

Well built. Excellent IQ. Very sharp wide open. And a good looking lens at that. Works great adapted to Sony and with my M mount film camera. Recommend it highly.

Does anyone know what effect this will have on a Leica camera? I was hoping to use this on both my a7 and my RF, and am not sure which version to buy (I'll probably use it more on the rangefinder, so it's more likely I'll get the other one).

This lens would be very sharp and the image quality would be the same on either a Sony E mount camera or a Leica M mount camera. You would need an adapter such as the Metabones Leica M Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera T Adapter (Black), B&H # MEMBLMEBT2 to mount the lens on the A7 series cameras. https://bhpho.to/2YmpZnv
