I just used the Black Magic Speed Test app and my brand new/out-of-the-box drive is 756MB/s WRITE, 933.2 MB/s READ. SOOOOO disappointed.

Yes, Thunderbolt3 is backwards compatible with USB-C speeds and will be able to connect in the TB3 port. You should get USB 3.2 transfer speeds.

According to Miguel from staff, he actually recommends this one, not sure why Daniel is saying the opposite (possibly because this disk is not mentioned as being officially supported by BMD): For BMPCC 6K RAW I would recommend the SanDisk 2TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD V2 BH #SAE812TB because it can read/write up to 2000 MB/s which is more suitable for that type of footage.
