The RME Babyface Pro is an interface used in broadcasting, live-sound, professional music studios, and video game design. It offers reference-grade conversion and two powerful preamps so you and a guest can capture pristine audio. Two XLR jacks are on hand, but because the Babyface Pro offers up to 24 channels over TOSLINK, the interface is expandable. With the right gear, it can accommodate larger podcast recordings as your needs grow.

A built-in FPGA chip handles digital signal processing, so you won't need extra plug-ins or software to shape the sound of your podcast—especially not with the included TotalMix FX Bundle. EQ, noise-reduction, and other processes are all on hand, as is a 12-channel mixer (useful for Mix Minus setups when needed). 

The Included BP40 from Audio-Technica is a large, dynamic broadcast microphone with an exceedingly directional polar pattern, thus ensuring a focused capture of your voice. This mic is built to be durable. It fights electro-magnetic interference for an artifact-free sound. An internal pop filter mitigates against plosives.

Rounding out the bundle are an On-Stage broadcast arm, an XLR cable, a DigiCheck Precision Audio Metering, a TotalRemote Software (with Mix Minus capabilities), and an included educational course in podcast engineering.

RME Babyface Pro 24-Channel 192 kHz USB Bus-Powered Audio Interface

The RME Babyface Pro 24-Channel 192 kHz USB Bus-Powered Audio Interface is designed for a wide variety of studio and live recording applications. Expertly crafted from a block of aluminum, this portable interface features a new XLR socket that integrates seamlessly into the housing. Parallel 6.3mm TRS and 3.5mm mini headphone jacks feature separate driver stages to match low and high impedance headphones.

The interface ships with the company's TotalMix FX, a software mixer available for Windows, Mac OS X and iOS on an iPad. When using the device with an iPad, an external power adapter must be used, as the iPad alone is unable to power the interface. The mixer software allows you to use the interface in a wide variety of situations, from simple mixing of signals to more complicated routing configurations.

The unit's FPGA-based DSP mixer adds a flexible 3-band parametric equalizer on all inputs and outputs. Combined with the unit's low latency AD/DA converters and the company's unique SteadyClock technology to reduce jitter, the interface offers a professional recording solution in a compact form factor.

Featuring a number of optimizations for spoken word and vocal capture, the BP40 Large Diaphragm Dynamic Broadcast Microphone from Audio-Technica boasts a hypercardioid polar pattern for strong off-axis rejection, and its voice coil is humbucking to prevent electromagnetic interference. The capsule itself is placed to assure present vocal capture even from a distance, while its internal pop filtering helps eliminate plosives.
