Well Built, Gets The Job Done

This is solidly built, with one of the smoothest V-lock mechanisms I've used yet. It has several power outputs on the side, which if you have the right cables, allows you to power your whole rig without using the dtaps on your battery. This thing works like a charm. One star off because of the wasted space on the part that connects to the camera, it could be shorter, and could have been a cheeseplate or something else more useful. Seems like they did a bunch of machining just to make it look the part.

Nice Try, but still a faulty Design

I waited for this newer version to come out, thinking that it would be an improvement on the old design. I was wrong. Although the unit mounts nicely on to my FS7M2, the power layout was obviously not designed by consulting a working pro. Its only D-Tap is used up by the wire that connects to the camera's power input. Of course I can plan my D-Tap Accessories directly into the battery, but then I have to remove them, slowing sown a battery change. The other power outlets are unnecessarily close to the to the D-Tap output making it difficult to plug and unplug the included, connecting wires. Finally, there is a small blue LED that remains on when a battery is connected. Sure, it looks cool and I don't imagine it draws very much power, but I would assume it does tax your battery somewhat if it remains on even when your camera is off.
